We work hard to ensure that our platform and application code is designed and implemented with the highest standards of availability, reliability and scalability. We also have a high focus on ensuring software is tested, safely deployed and monitored. But we must also ensure that unforeseen outages or issues with features are short-lived. The Technical Operations team own the tools, processes and frameworks to ensure the rapid response and recovery from service outages. Tech Ops own the incident management processes, the follow-up investigation process, and will drive the actions needed to close availability risks. In 2024 Personio will commit to our customers a comprehensive Service Level Agreement (SLA) for application availability and the Technical Operations team will be a key factor in the success of this commitment.Your Responsibilities:  

  • Experience in operational processes and supporting tooling, including incident management, status communication, on-call best practices, monitoring, alarming and multi-level engagement models
  • Participation in out-of-hours on-call rotations
  • Experience in Modern, third party Monitoring and Alarming tooling such as Datadog, Sentry, OpsGenie, and AWS Cloudwatch
  • Experience running calls/meetings to triage, investigate and fix issues in a timely manner, with diverse participants from engineering, product and customer success
  • Experience representing operations to technical and non-technical stakeholders and leaders.
  • Hands-on implementer of technical improvements to operations: Scripting, systems engineering and management and operations of 3rd party tools
  • Experience and understanding of distributed systems and architectural and run-time dependencies between services, data stores, and other system components

What you need to succeed

  • Over 5 years of experience in a senior technical role with a focus on operations 
  • Broad knowledge of modern cloud (AWS preferred) distributed architectures (compute, messaging, databases, APIs, event event-sourcing (e.g.Kafka preferred)
  • Experience and passion for identifying missing and failing operational processes and leading change to create or fix them. 
  • Experience building an operational process strategy and translating it into reality
  • A proven track record of enabling your teammates and amplifying their technical abilities by mentoring and coaching
  • Comfortable dealing with uncertainty and managing risk
  • Strong written and spoken communication skills (in English)

$185,000/year to $205,000/year + equity + benefitsPlease note the national salary range listed in the job posting reflects the new hire salary range across levels and U.S. locations that would be applicable to the position.
