Role Description:

The General Assembly “Regal” team (that’s regulatory + legal, of course) is a critical partner to every department at GA.  While working with our clients, we focus on getting to “yes” in an efficient and effective manner, with minimal risk and maximal fun. 

The Regulatory team serves as a critical liaison between the company and its outside stakeholders. As the Regal Ops Specialist, you will help support business processes, maintain information and records, develop and maintain department technology applications, and work with different teams across the company to enable the business to grow and scale. The Legal & Regulatory Operations Lead will aim to drive in-house efficiency and produce a more centralized and responsive service model to our global company.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the day-to-day operations of the Legal and Regulatory department and report on key operational and substantive metrics to inform decision-making and work product analyses
  • Act as legal and regulatory project manager in implementing technology solutions to automate processes, maximize operational efficiencies and benchmark data 
  • Serve as traffic control for legal and regulatory requests.
  • Periodically audit internal operations to ensure compliance with regulatory and internal process requirements 
  • Enable knowledge sharing by updating self-service tools for access to legal and regulatory advice 
  • Lead continuous process improvement efforts and build centralized processes for decision making across the business
  • Maintain contract template versions and assist in deploying changes to templates across the business
  • Manage departmental mail and signature acquisition 
  • Support data subject deletion and access requests
  • Support privacy assessments for all existing vendors and manage privacy certifications 
  • Manage and continuously improve the document management process across the entire department
  • Maintain compliance and corporate governance filing calendars
  • Draft applications to enable General Assembly students to access Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) funding across priority states and jurisdictions  
  • Update and maintain course catalogs and Enrollment Agreements 
  • Update regulatory records regarding instructor and agent licensure 
  • Work with team members throughout other functional areas on legal, compliance, and privacy related projects, as needed
  • Anticipate and mitigate pain points, devise creative solutions, and drive change management

Skills & Qualifications:  

  • Creative problem solver who combines an ability to navigate ambiguity with a sense of humor
  • 2-4 years experience in operations and/or project management based environment;
  • Excellent planning and organization skills and the ability to prioritize effectively Enthusiasm for managing day-to-day administrative and operations tasks to optimize team efficiency and performance
  • You view relationships with your clients and other stakeholders as key to your success and build and maintain trusted relationships with those individuals and their teams
  • You have a can-do attitude and willingness to roll up your sleeves, and a desire to get into the details of the business and legal and regulatory work of the company - no job too big or small
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills  
  • A passion for education and for changing lives
  • Bonus points for strong competency in Jira, Confluence, and OneTrust applications

The anticipated annualized salary range for this position in the US market is $80,000 and $120,000. Salary will be determined based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.  If hired as a regular full-time employee, this position will include a variable compensation plan which could be a bonus or a commission.

US benefit offerings for full-time employment may include medical, dental, vision, term life insurance, short-term and long-term disability, additional voluntary benefits, commuter benefits, wellness plans & reimbursement and retirement programs.  Available paid leave may include paid time off, parental leave and holiday pay.
