Data Scientists and ML Engineers at Deliveroo report into our data science management team, and we have a strong, active data science community, with guest lecturers; a robust technical review process; a career progression framework; and plenty of opportunities to learn new things.

This is a hybrid role based in Hyderabad with some expectations to come into the office.

The Role

You will work on metadata generation for input into recommendation engines and other algorithmic decision-making. Apart from excelling in complex prompt engineering, there will be a focus on developing in-house models using techniques such as fine-tuning and distillation.

Expect to use frameworks such as Pytorch and Huggingface in your daily work. You will work in a cross-functional team alongside engineers, data scientists specialized in analytics and inference, and product managers to develop systems that make automated decisions at massive scale. We evaluate the performance of all our decision-making machines via robust experimentation powered by our world class experimentation platform.

Requirements

• You are someone who knows the fundamentals of machine learning and when they are applied
• 3-5+ years' experience with deep learning and NLP
• Experience with Pytorch or other deep learning frameworks
• Experience productionising ML models and building ML pipelines (also experience with Huggingface)
• Proficient in exploratory data analysis, model/algorithm prototyping and selection, model pipeline design and development. Deploying models to production and experiment monitoring is a bonus
• Solid communication skills - in person, in writing, in code, and code-review; to technical and non-technical audiences
• A bias for simplicity and impact
