The ChallengeWe’re looking for a Quality Engineering Manager who will bring a breadth of knowledge to champion initiatives to improve the quality assurance functions across the release pipelines at OneTrust. This person will evaluate development models in new product teams and guide them to pivot into automating tests, understanding customer expectations and experiment with new testing strategies where functionality overlaps. The Quality Engineer Manager will act as a key point of contact for all quality aspects of releases, providing test services and coordinating test resources globally leveraging an onshore/offshore model. This person will lead, mentor, and manage a team of quality engineers / automation engineers/ performance engineers promoting collaboration across diverse teams. implement strategies to identify, assess, and resolve quality issues and challenges. This person will play a crucial role in enhancing the quality, efficiency, scalability, performance, and user satisfaction of our system.
Your Mission- Strong techno functional professional responsible for overseeing and leading the quality assurance function, ensuring the implementation of robust and modern testing processes and methodologies to deliver high-quality/ customer lovable software products.
- Collaborate with various teams to grasp newly delivered components in the pipeline and devise innovative functional and performance tests.
- Stay up to date on contemporary software development best practices, emerging technologies, and design patterns, contributing to thought leadership initiatives.
- In this role, the resource closely collaborates with leadership team in understanding the company and department goals and translate them into OKRs for their team.
- Develop robust functional and performance tests with team to support functional and sizing requirements, collaborating closely with development and operations teams to experiment and optimize environment sizing.
- Increase automation in the modules with early feedback to developers by shifting left and influencing the right tool sets required.
- Analyze test cases and conditions to determine optimal running tests by evaluating root cause in product support tickets and adjusting test patterns
- Managing a team of quality engineers to provide guidance or feedback on areas of improvement.
- You are able to influence the right mindset within the teams by extracting data of day-to-day operations within the teams. You are able to make thoughtful decisions without guidance. You are comfortable leading meetings among cross-functional teams or executive leadership. You are able to sift through noise and run effective retros to improve the team. You are able to work through process standardization by cross collaboration and experimentation of new ideas. You are someone who has excellent team-building, resource planning, development and management skills. Self-interested to develop in depth knowledge on technologies and tools used in quality engineering. You are able to anticipate, identify, and then eliminate or mitigate any potential issues that would affect performance and negatively impact customer experience. You are able to manage people aspect of leading a team and drive organizational culture to build quality products in an efficient manner.
Your Experience Includes
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical or business field
- 8+ years of experience in developing and/or testing software applications with 5+ years in a management role .
- In this role, the resource could influence the design decisions by becoming technically and functionally strong to understand the breadth and depth of product functionality being built.
- Strong people’s manager with a penchant to foster an environment that promotes the right culture.
- Ruthlessly drives efficiency and productivity with the ‘shift left’ mindset.
- Has a strong DevSecOps mindset and ability to influence change for better.
- Drive continuous improvement within product teams and participate in retrospectives in order to raise the bar within these product teams.
- experience with database testing (SQL/NoSQL). Must be able to write complex queries to validate data conditions. Must be able to understand and interpret costly queries
- 5+ years of relevant experience working as a software engineer or performance engineer or automation engineer with management experience of managing a team of at least 5+ members.
- 5+ years of working in product applications that followed Agile development lifecycle.
- 5+ years of experience and strong knowledge of automation, performance monitoring and profiling tools
- 5+ years of experience working with mixed onshore/offshore model.
- Experience in any of the defect tracking tools like JIRA and test tracking tools like Qtest, ALM, Qmetry.
- Ability to work as part of a team, demonstrate initiative, solve problems independently and mentor others.
- Contribute to process improvements and implement latest trends and techniques in testing.
- Deep understanding of development technologies (Java, JavaScript, REST API, AngularJS, CSS) and should be able to write simple scripts for automation
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, lean, and logical thinking skills, with a deep and tangential approach to problem-solving and has ability to separate noise and arrive at the root causes analysis
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Excellent communication and presentation skills and willing to go that extra mile to attain perfection
- Experience in providing technical guidance and expertise to team members, colleagues and/or customers
- Be a strong mentor and coach to the team
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of automation processes, testing process , standards and best practices.
- Experience in understanding performance characteristics of the application, designing and executing performance scripts using tools like jmeter or blazemeter, monitoring and capturing various volumetrics. This includes capturing the right metrics, analyzing results and creating reports for various stakeholders.
- 3+ years of leading teams implementing new processes, ideas and improving efficiencies in the release pipeline
- Experience in building test automations using tools such as Selenium Webdriver, Java, Cucumber/Gherkin, Maven, Jenkins, Appium.
- Sound knowledge of Kubernetes or an equivalent container orchestration platform
- Proven experience in various Proof of Concepts (POCs) to keep the automation framework and technology in sync with the current product offerings and guiding team members with the proper guidance to complete the POCs.
- Experience in troubleshooting issues using information from logs, tools like Kibana, ELK, Cora Logix and ability to add the necessary monitors and alerts in Grafana, Using Prometheus.
- Effective communication and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Extra Impressive
- Proficiency in working with cloud-based applications, with a preference for expertise in Azure/AWS/GCP.
- Has been involved in POC of any automation tool or test management tool
- Has exposure to Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence based testing strategies
- Has ability to build good dashboards to drive visibility to the team
- Has 3+ years of people management skills
- Has 2+ years of experience in microservice architecture.
