Working with Appian's Workplace and Facilities team, the Travel and Workplace Events Manager will be responsible for planning and managing global workplace events focused on enhancing the employee experience, as well as assisting with management of large user group meetings and seminars. The Travel and Workplace Events Manager will also manage Appian’s global travel program, implementing innovative policies and processes to create an exceptional program for the traveler and Appian. The role will also be responsible for oversight of the employee travel process, including travel portal and coordination with all travel vendors. 

This role will be on-site based out of our McLean, VA headquarters. 

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • Ability to partner with internal and external stakeholders to curate a global workplace event and engagement program, including company-wide employee events that promote Appian’s brand and support local initiatives in offices and for remote employees. 

  • Experience in crafting engaging and creative employee events from start to finish, including research and concept development, preparing budgets, vendor selection, on-site event execution, and post-event analysis. 

  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills to create and analyze travel spend reports to identify areas for improvement.

  • Ability to work cross-departmentally on employee engagement initiatives as well as maintaining the Travel & Expense Policy 

  • Experience in management, budgeting recommendations, and reporting of global employee experience budget.

  • Prior work in the development and tracking of a global experience calendar with local leaders

  • The ability to oversee and develop executive reporting on KPI’s and budget for global travel programs.

  • Excellent project management skills and attention to detail that enable you to coordinate and carry out project deliverables on schedule.

  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills to effectively communicate with customers and senior executives.

  • Ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced and results-oriented environment.

  • Ability to negotiate high dollar and value agreements with and make recommendations on vendor selection for events as well as travel vendors including hotels, airlines and ground transportation companies.

  • Ability to travel up to 10%.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years internal event management experience required; experience in B2B Enterprise Software company preferred.

  • 3+ years experience in management of employee travel processes.

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
