This role is part of the Strategy Partner Team, focusing on delivering critical projects as identified by our VPs of Research. Our two VPs are responsible for the majority of the operational decisions within Google DeepMind’s Research team.

The Role

This 12-month role will focus on enabling and delivering on the priority projects of Google DeepMind’s Research team. This role achieves this by optimising and strengthening existing communication channels with teams across Google DeepMind in order to deliver on strategic priorities. The role partners closely across Google DeepMind’s Operations teams (particularly, but not limited to, the Events team and Internal Comms team, among others).

Key responsibilities:

  • Acting as a trusted advisor and delivery partner to the VPs of Research responsible for the operational decisions for the Research Org. 
  • Partnering closely with key Operations stakeholders to deliver on operational priorities.  
  • Collaborating on and driving cross-functional projects. Focusing on the delivery of specific projects identified by the VPs of Research that they partner with. 
  • Finding opportunities for the Research team’s process improvements and cross-team collaboration: bringing the right teams together and joining the dots between related workstreams.
  • Tracking progress across multiple workstreams, working in partnership with Program Managers, and reporting up-to-date information to the VPs of Research and relevant stakeholders to inform decision making.
  • Partnering with Program Managers and our People & Culture team to represent the Research team’s views, and to help deliver activity such as team reorgs, headcount planning, and the scaling of Research teams.
  • Anticipating and proposing solutions to issues and risks.
  • Planning and delivering communications on behalf of the Research VPs 
    • Drafting and scheduling comms 
    • Looking ahead and identifying comms plans 
    • Partnering with relevant cross-functional teams
About You

In order to set you up for success as a Research Delivery Partner at Google DeepMind,  we look for the following skills and experience:

  • Strong communication skills: ability to build and sustain positive relationships with key stakeholders and leverage these to influence action and outcomes.
  • Ability to cut through complexity, prioritise (and re-prioritise) large workload and to differentiate signal from noise.
  • Ability to think big picture while maintaining attention to detail.

In addition, the following would be an advantage:

  • Experience working in a Research environment and a good understanding of their workflow and priorities.
