We are looking for a Principal Tax Specialist for our Finance team in the heart of buzzing Berlin!

As Principal Tax Specialist you report directly to the Head of Accounting and Corporate Taxes. You will use your skills and experiences to drive and optimize our tax processes and help shape Babbel’s global tax strategy.

You will:

• Deal with complex tax questions in all areas of the group’s taxes nationally as well as internationally for corporate taxes and especially VAT
• Help us to design proper processes with internal Stakeholders and bring together our business needs and the legally required reporting and documentation
• Supervise the day-to-day Tax accounting which is in particular driven by VAT
• Provide professional, reasonable and well-informed advice to your colleagues in terms of taxation, especially to finance leads
• Take responsibility in internal projects, e.g., Internal Control Systems (ICS), M&A or IT system integrations

You have:

• A degree (Bachelor or Master) in Accounting, Finance, Tax, or equivalent, or a degree as tax specialist (DE “Steuerfachwirt/in”) 
• 3+ years of professional experience in a company tax role or in a tax consulting company, ideally with focus on VAT. Experience gained in a Software-as-a-Service (“SaaS”) environment as a plus
• Very detailed knowledge of German Corporate and VAT tax laws and profound knowledge of international tax principles (such as transfer pricing)
• The ambition to expand our knowledge of multinational tax and VAT laws
• The ability to use core accounting principles independently and self-assured
• The ability to transfer theoretical knowledge to our business needs
• Business fluency in German and English (verbally and in writing)
