Quality Specialist - Receiving Operations

QUALITY SPECIALIST - RECEIVING OPERATIONS
Quality Specialist is an important role in our process and directly affects the supply chain process at our Rocket Development Facility in Texas. Located on a 4,500 acre site in central Texas, the Rocket Development Facility is responsible for testing hardware from development stages through acceptance for flight, and from component level to complete stage testing. This position will work with engineers and technicians to ensure the quality and accuracy of items shipped to our facility. This is a very technical receiving role which will help to ensure that we achieve our overall mission of sending humans to Mars.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for documenting dimensional non-conformance issues found during the precision inspection process
- Responsible for resolving holds within the receiving inspection or precision inspection process and taking corrective actions to prevent them in the future
- Work with engineers to determine what type of inspection is necessary for part quality
- Establish a standard tracking system, procedure, and process improvements to streamline the coordination of all holds and issues
- Work closely with Engineering, Procurement, and Production teams to ensure high-quality parts and services that meet all requirements
- Support containment activities on suspect or non-conforming vendor product
- Support Quality Management System policies and procedures, assess compliance to company and industry standards, initiate and lead continual improvement and Lean Manufacturing initiatives
- Be an innovative, flexible thinker, capable of presenting sound, data-based arguments to implement and drive change in the Supplier Development Organization
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or GED
- 1+ years of experience in a quality assurance or leadership position working with shipping, receiving, materials management, or supply chain
- 3+ years of experience in a shipping, receiving, materials management, or supply chain position performing general incoming inspections, inventory operations (cycle counts, request fulfillment, packaging, or warehouse organization), and process improvements
PREFERRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
- 1+ years of experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) or blueprint reading
- Experience with precision inspection methods/systems (CMM, optical methods, manual methods)
- Experience with receiving inspection methods/systems
- Communication skills for relaying data (verbally and written) between other employees and customers
- Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment while still able to maintain a high standard of accuracy
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, Access, & PowerPoint
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Knowledge of material requirements planning (MRP) or enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems and functions
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Work performed in a warehouse environment
- Physical effort including standing, lifting, and carrying light to moderately heavy materials or equipment; must be able to lift up to 25lbs unassisted
- Valid driver's license
- Must be available for overtime and weekends as the schedule varies depending on site operational needs; flexibility is required
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Pay range: Quality Specialist/Level 1: $28.00/hour Quality Specialist/Level 2: $32.00/hour Quality Specialist/Level 3: $36.00/hour
Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
