Regional Sales Manager – Field Sales

Location: London (UK)

About Us

At SumUp, we’re on a mission to empower small businesses to thrive. A global fintech leader in over 35 countries, we provide merchants with seamless payment solutions and business-growth tools—from local cafés in London to hair salons across the UK. Now, we’re scaling our Field Sales operation in the UK and we need a leader with industry expertise and field experience to accelerate growth.

  The Role

As Regional Sales Manager, you will lead, build and scale our field-sales engine across the UK. You’ll be the strategic and operational lead for the team on the ground—driving recruitment, training, performance, routes to market, and growth in an extremely dynamic environment.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of 3-5 Territory Managers, each managing their own Field Sales Consultants (FSAs, FSAs/freelancers) across the UK.

  • Own recruitment, onboarding, training and development of field-sales personnel.

  • Design and execute regional go-to-market strategies, ensuring field routes, market segmentation and territory “heat-maps” are aligned and effective.

  • Work side-by-side with your team in the field—coach live, support visits, refine pitches and methods in real time.

  • Track and optimise KPIs, commission plans and sales performance dashboards (e.g., Salesforce, Tableau).

  • Partner cross-functionally with People, Enablement, Marketing, and Product to ensure alignment, enablement and continuous improvement.

  • Provide deep insights into the UK SME / POS market, competitive landscape and growth opportunities.

  • Act as a strategic driver under the Head of Sales UK, influencing long-term field strategy and team growth.

  Your Profile

You are a Field Sales leader with deep experience in POS/merchant services or fintech, and you’ve built and coached high-performance field teams with an entrepreneurial mindset.

Essential:

  • 7+ years’ leadership experience, including direct management of field-sales teams (front-line + territory management).

  • Proven success executing sales strategy and managing field operations (territories, routes, door-to-door, channel partners).

  • Industry experience in POS, merchant acquiring, fintech, telecom or other highly competitive field-sales sectors.

  • Strong analytical skills: you are comfortable interpreting data, dashboards, KPIs, and making decisions that drive results.

  • Excellent coaching and communication abilities—able to lead both full-time and freelance/commission-based teams.

  • Comfortable working hands-on in the field, setting the pace and culture by example.

  • Fluency in English (native or near-native).

Bonus points:

  • Experience working with freelance or commission-based field-consultants.

  • Previous startup or scale-up experience, ideally as a co-founder or early hire in a sales role (shows you’ve built a team from scratch).

  • Familiarity with the UK SME / POS market and major players.

  • Strong working knowledge of CRM (Salesforce), dashboards (Tableau), and territory/route mapping tools.

  What We Offer

An exciting leadership opportunity in a high-growth, international business—where your impact will be immediate and measurable.
