The Community You Will Join: 

As a Platform Controlling team member you will have broad exposure to various functions at Airbnb, including Business Insights, Engineering, Product, Business Development & Finance Systems and will also work closely with external business partners.

The Difference You Will Make:

The ideal candidate for this position will have a strong understanding of US GAAP and revenue recognition principles, excellent technical and communication skills, ability to manage staff and partners effectively across business functions.

A Typical Day: 

  • Manage areas of our platform controlling financial close including revenue, contra revenue, incentives and other balance sheet impacting items
  • Development and review of routine and non-routine journal entries and adjustments
  • Collaborate with product reviews to ensure proper revenue recognition, process documentation, and controls analysis
  • Ensuring SOX compliance with key controls and accurate GAAP financial reporting, fulfilling internal and external reporting requirements
  • Preparing and/or reviewing audit schedules in partnership with the technical accounting, financial reporting and accounting team
  • Collaborating with finance systems and engineering teams on the design and implementation of revenue automation/recognition tools
  • Assisting with various ad hoc projects as needed
  • Opportunity to manage a small team, both directly and offshore 
  • Describe how this role will collaborate with cross functional partners and if relevant, include:
    •  International partners

Your Expertise:

  • 8+ years experience in accounting with a Big 4 firm combined with industry experience at a large scale company (Tech industry and/or public company experience preferred)
  • B.A. or B.S. in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a closely related discipline
  • CPA certification or equivalent is required
  • Deep knowledge of US GAAP and revenue recognition guidance
  • Experience researching and documenting technical accounting matters
  • Advanced Excel knowledge. SQL training will be provided.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and experience analyzing high volume, multi-currency transactions in a global business environment 
  • Systems experience: Workday, Oracle or other large ERP preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and team building skills - ability to work with a diverse team and impart change across functional and business boundaries
  • Capable of handling multiple projects in a fast paced, hyper growth environment
  • Ability to identify, design and implement internal controls and best practices

This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed to with your manager. How We'll Take Care of You:

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.  

Pay Range$125,000—$150,000 USD
