THE ROLE

Join the FlashArray Core Security Team as a Software Engineering Manager to drive the security strategy for Pure Storage’s flagship data platform. You will lead a high-impact engineering team at the nexus of product innovation and data security, balancing a robust security posture with rapid, market-leading delivery. This role requires a strategic, technically deep leader to manage people, drive a complex product security roadmap, and collaborate with core development teams and executive leadership.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Lead a high-performing software security team responsible for delivering robust, built-in security features for the FlashArray platform, ensuring a strong security posture in a highly autonomous environment.

  • Establish and execute a clear product security strategy and roadmap that aligns the team’s technical deliverables with overall FlashArray business objectives and product goals for the $ multi-billion platform.

  • Provide strategic technical and architectural guidance for security-related features, acting as an advisor to the team on complex challenges and ensuring project delivery with high quality and on-time execution across multiple, concurrent initiatives.

  • Manage team performance and growth through effective coaching, mentorship, and hiring, fostering a culture of technical excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement in an agile development environment.

  • Drive cross-functional collaboration with senior management, core development teams, and key stakeholders (e.g., Global Information Security, Product Management) to communicate security risks, influence strategy, and gain buy-in for critical initiatives.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Proven Leadership and People Management: Demonstrated success in building, mentoring, and leading high-performing software engineering teams, including hiring, performance management, and career development.

  • Strategic Execution and Delivery Ownership: Exceptional ability to establish operational objectives and work plans, delegate assignments, and drive execution. Demonstrated experience implementing strategic policies and establishing adherence to budgets and schedules for complex, multi-team projects.

  • Deep Technical Acumen in Software Systems: Strong background in systems software development (e.g., C/C++/Java) with a proven track record of understanding deeply technical security and architectural details, even if not currently hands-on coding.

  • Complex Problem-Solving and Decision-Making: Ability to analyze situations or data that requires an in-depth knowledge of organizational objectives and apply independent judgment to select effective methods and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.

  • Influence and Cross-Functional Interaction: Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence thinking and gain acceptance from senior management and executive levels in sensitive situations without damaging relationships.

  • Location: We are primarily an in-office environment and therefore, you will be expected to work from the Santa Clara, CA office in compliance with Pure’s policies, unless you are on PTO, or work travel, or other approved leave.
