Appian is seeking a Senior Accountant to be a key member of our corporate accounting team, responsible for executing our close process with high precision and accuracy. The primary responsibilities for this position include the accounting, reconciliation and reporting for fixed assets, compensation, and equity for a 2,200+ employee, multinational organization.
This role is based at Appian's Headquarters in McLean, VA. Employees hired for this position are required to work in a hybrid environment. If you are not already located in the surrounding McLean, VA area, your willingness to relocate will be a contingency for this position.
To be successful in this role, you need:
To be responsible for recording equity compensation including stock options, restricted stock units, and employee share purchase plan
Own accounting for global company payroll and equity transactions
Interact and coordinate with personnel in various corporate departments, including HR and Equity teams in order to research and resolve complex equity transactions
Ensure timely and accurate GL accounting and reconciliation of all payroll related activities
Prepare monthly journal entries related to payroll accruals, including bonus, retention and commission accruals
Review and assist with routine payroll accounting including PTO, off cycle transactions, employee advances and related accruals
Reconciliation of compensation benefits related balance sheet accounts
Coordinating with international accountants on local compensation and equity related matters and annual filing requirements
Responsible for fixed asset accounting, including monthly journal entries, maintaining fixed asset subledger and reconciliation process
Execute controls and close processes to ensure compliance with our key SOX controls
Support external financial, 401k and workers compensation audits as required
Complete special projects and analyses as requested
Basic Qualifications:
5+ years finance and accounting experience
3+ emphasis on employee compensation and equity transactions
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, preferred
CPA, preferred
