You’ll be working in the People Engagement team delivering for our LT team in across areas such as Commercial, Finance, Corporate Affairs, you name it. Our team is responsible for designing and delivering a proactive, progressive engagement strategy to help us become the leading place to work for people who want to change the world.

We help people to connect to and be passionate about our purpose, share in our values and become advocates of our mission to drive progress towards net zero carbon living.

 

This role in a nutshell:

You will be a Senior People Engagement Manager and Business Partner helping drive engagement and alignment behind OVO’s strategic business priorities, creating greater clarity for people on their contribution to these. You’ll lead on a wide range of engagement campaigns, events, and internal communication channels to help people connect to our mission and purpose, and do their best work. 

You’ll report to the Head of People Engagement and work closely with our leadership team to tell the OVO story and help people love working here.

You’ll partner widely across a range of functions that are key to the success of our employee engagement strategy and build relationships across an extensive network of leaders and colleagues.

In this role you’ll be responsible for:

  • Shaping our people engagement strategy, making sure our internal communications campaigns, content, channels and events drive maximum employee engagement
  • Leading on non-financial recognition, and owning our annual OVO Awards
  • Leading on Peakon – our engagement survey. You’ll always be listening to what our people say and taking action based on insights
  • Building and developing strong relationships with senior OVO leaders and providing coaching and comms counsel as a trusted advisor. Leveraging influencers across the organisation to build engagement
  • Working with the People team to build OVO’s leadership capability, so that OVO’s people leaders have the tools and skills to successfully engage and inspire our people

You’ll deliver effective leader-led communications that facilitate two-way engagement with our people. You’ll provide comms consultancy and develop and deliver crucial communications and engagement programmes across the business. 

You’ll be key in making sure that the work the People Engagement team does makes sense for our people and is tailored as necessary for differing audiences. That’s everything from content and campaigns, through to recognition, engagement and leadership strategy.

You’ll also support the wider People Engagement team leading on key central projects that support the success of our employee engagement strategy, and build relationships across the wider team to make a difference for our people, so they can make a difference for our customers.

 

You’ll be successful here  if you…

  • Have solid experience in Internal Communications.
  • Have strong partnering experience – having direct experience of working with and advising senior leaders.
  • Have experience of tailoring messages to different audiences.
  • Have a consistent track record of dealing with significant periods of change and shaping the internal narrative around this.
  • Be a people person and a great teammate.
  • Be highly organised, adept at managing multiple partners within complex businesses.
  • Be flexible with timings ready to respond to any out of hours crisis communications.
  • Be willing to travel for key business area get togethers.

  • Have a wealth of experience in Internal Communications or People Engagement
  • Have experience and a proven track record of dealing with significant periods of change and shaping the internal narrative around this
  • Experience delivering successful engagement campaigns
  • Comfortable leading and rolling up your sleeves to get stuck in with delivery
  • Have direct experience of, and comfort working into senior leadership. Highly skilled in providing advice to senior business leaders and adept at building trust quickly and retaining it through time
  • Be a people person and a great teammate with low ego and high EQ – an energetic, positive and a welcome addition to every room
  • Be highly organised, adept at managing multiple partners within complex and changing mosaic businesses with multiple Internal Comms processes and expectations
  • Be an exemplary teammate, at their best when working within a collective to deliver a shared vision. Capable of building relationships fast and inspiring confidence in all around them

We’ll pay you between £72,000 and £80,000, depending on your specific skills and experience. If your expectations are a little different, have a chat with us!

You’ll be eligible for an on-target bonus of 15%. We have one OVO bonus plan that focuses on the collective performance of our people to deliver our Plan Zero goal.
