The Senior Creative Technologist role is a six-month engagement starting ASAP in January with the possibility it could be extended beyond June 2024. Ideally, this person would be Bay Area based and available to join the team in person 3 days a week, but we would consider a West Coast candidate who can fly in for a few days per month to participate in hands-on demos.

The Senior Creative Technologist is responsible for driving innovation in experience and interaction design that brings our projects to life. 

As a Senior Creative Technologist, you will collaborate across design, UX, motion graphics, film/video, 3D, and technical teams to concept and prove meaningful user experiences across a variety of projects. You will play an important role in the studio’s creative efforts across digital platforms, in-person experiences, internal tools, and interactive installations. You will also engage with engineering teams to take full advantage of hardware and software possibilities depending on the project. 

Please note: No visa transfers or visa sponsorships will be offered at this time. Candidates for this role must be able to work West Coast hours.

This position is hybrid and associated with the AKQA San Francisco studio. 

Responsibilities: 

• Developing interactive prototypes to conceptualize and prove innovative approaches for marketing initiatives. 
• Overseeing the implementation of ideas to ensure pixel-perfect implementation of designs. 
• Research and develop new ideas using cutting-edge technologies and techniques. 

Experience & Skills: 

• Unity/Unreal and AR/VR development experience. 
• iOS/macOS development (Objective-C/Swift). 
• Computer Graphics (OpenGL/WebGL/Metal). 
• Motion graphics and 3D software (AfterEffects, Maya) skills. 
• Adobe Creative Suite. 

Requirements: 

• A diverse portfolio demonstrating expertise in multiple design/development disciplines (web, native iOS/macOS applications, AR/VR, interactive installations, motion graphics, 3D, creative coding). 
• A strong drive to explore and learn new technologies, and excitement at the thought of operating outside of your comfort zone. 
• Excellent organizational and time management skills. 
• Effective at communicating and working closely with multidisciplinary teams including art directors, UX designers, developers, and motion graphics artists. 
• Proven ability to craft and communicate thoughtful user experiences. 
• 5+ years of experience working in creative/R&D/agency environments. 
• BS or MS in Graphic Design/Interactive Design/Computer Science/Media Arts and/or a portfolio of relevant work demonstrating the desired skill set.
