About the team:The Data function at Luno unlocks value hidden in the huge volumes of data we collect from our customers and platform. These timely insights help to inform our product development and business strategy.
As a Senior Data Analyst joining Luno, you would be part of a broader data function working with data engineers, data analysts and data scientists.Our current technology stack includes Databricks, Looker, Amplitude and mParticle.
The role in a nutshell:As we accelerate on our mission to put crypto in everyone’s hands, your role is to extrapolate insights from the data that we collect on our customers and their experience with our products and services. This in turn, allows us to drive better decisions and inform our business strategy. Your role will involve designing, building, and maintaining our BI solutions, ensuring data accuracy, facilitating self-service and delivering compelling stories through dashboarding.
Your mission will be:- Oversee end-to-end ownership of data products and collaborate with engineering, product, and business stakeholders in an agile environment to solve business problems
- Formulate business requirements into analytical objectives
- Optimise data management, improve data quality and governance, and implement best practices across Luno’s’ data landscape
- Develop ETL solutions and drive automation of data solutions/products
- Implement systems and processes to help scale our insights
- Design metrics to accurately assess product performance and business health
- Build and manage data infrastructure, ETL processes and data tools to track and optimise performance
- Build dashboards for business stakeholders that communicate insights to stakeholder (often non technical) to allow data informed decisions
- You are passionate about data analytics and related disciplines
- You can leverage data analytics to innovate and create out-of-the-box solutions
- You can gather and synthesise facts, theories, trends, patterns, inferences, and key issues in complex and variable situations
- You are intellectually curious and have the persistence to find answers to difficult questions
- You can diagnose problems using formal problem-solving tools and techniques
- You have strong interpersonal and communication skills
- You communicate technical concepts to non-experts in simple and helpful terms

- You keep abreast of developments and emerging trends in data
- Bachelor's degree or higher in the natural sciences or technical fields such as Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or Economics
- Exploratory data analysis and/or optimisation skills
- Advanced SQL skills and experience with relational databases
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to explain data and statistical concepts to non-experts in a clear, and structured manner
- Ability to work independently, as well as within and across multi-disciplinary teams
- Ability to successfully complete projects with large and/or incomplete data sets
- Enthusiasm to work in the crypto industry
- Adaptable and capable of working in fast-paced environments
- Great analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
- At least 4 year’s experience working in a similar role
- Experience working with business intelligence platform such as Tableau, Cognos, Qlik, or Looker
- Solid understanding of ETL processes, database design and data modelling techniques
- Experience with designing and implementing data warehouse solutions within a data lake architecture
