The Challenge

As a Senior Design Systems Manager, you will be responsible for leading the development and management of our design system, ensuring consistency, quality, and efficiency in our product design processes. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to create, maintain, and evolve our design system and related product areas, which will empower designers, developers, and product managers to deliver usable and lovable user experiences. 

Your Mission
  • Develop and maintain the design system, including components, patterns, guidelines, and documentation. 

  • Manage and mentor a team of design system specialists, fostering a culture of growth and development. 

  • Collaborate with designers, developers, and product managers to understand their needs and ensure the design system meets the requirements of the business and its users. 

  • Evangelize the adoption of the design system across the organization, driving a culture of consistency and collaboration. 

  • Continuously assess and iterate on the design system to stay current with industry trends, accessibility standards, and emerging technologies. 

  • Establish and maintain governance processes to ensure the design system is used consistently and effectively throughout the organization. 

  • Develop and implement measurement strategies to track the impact and success of the design system. 

  • Manage and prioritize the product backlog by working closely with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and users to identify, refine, and prioritize design system features and improvements. 

  • Translate organizational strategy and product goals into clear, actionable tasks for the design system team, ensuring alignment between business objectives and design system development. 

  • Establish and maintain a clear and transparent communication channel with all stakeholders to regularly update them on the status, progress, and prioritization of the design system backlog. 

  • Continuously monitor and assess the effectiveness of the design system in meeting user needs and driving product success, using data-driven insights to inform backlog prioritization and design system iterations.  

  • Establish and maintain a clear and transparent communication channel with all remit counterparts to regularly update them on the status, progress, blockers, and prioritization of the UX roadmap.  

  • Directly manage a small team of content strategists and full-stack UX Designers. 

  • Recruit and interview candidates. 

  • Work with other UX managers to align on initiatives, experience vision, and overlapping workstreams.  

  • Provide thought leadership and stay current on emerging UX design trends, tools, and techniques.  

  • Conduct independent research to understand customer needs and plan for the future of your product areas.  

You Are
  • Bachelor's degree in design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science or a related field. 

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in UX/UI design, with at least 6 years of experience creating B2B products and at least 2 years of experience in design systems management. 

  • Strong understanding of design principles, user-centered design, modular design and accessibility standards. 

  • Product management or similar experience managing web-based sites and applications. 

  • Experience working with modern front-end development technologies, such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. 

  • Proven leadership and mentoring experience, with a focus on team development and growth.  

  • You are passionate about re-imagining an existing product but have also mastered strategic partnership. 

  • You can share a proven aptitude for UX design and strategy. 

  • You can energize those around you to take calculated risks that help customers. 

  • You have experience building SaaS products. 

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills. 

  • 6+ years of experience managing and mentoring full-stack UX designers. 

  • Experience conducting user research and usability testing. 

  • Proficiency in design and prototyping tools such as Sketch, Figma, Maze, or similar. 

  • Experience working in an agile software development environment. 

  • Knowledge of privacy and information security.  

  • Bachelor's degree in design, human-computer interaction, or related field

 

For California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, New York, Rhode Island, and Washington-based candidates: the annual base pay range for this role is listed below. Within this range, individual pay is determined by several factors, including location, job-related skills, work experience, and relevant education and/or training. This role may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, equity, and/or commissions, as well as benefits.

Salary Range$156,600—$208,775 USDBenefits
