The MongoDB Cloud Services Team is a diverse group of contributors working together to help our users manage MongoDB at global scale. The Cloud Team is responsible for MongoDB Atlas: our database as a service offering and fastest growing product which allows users to deploy fault-tolerant, globally distributed MongoDB clusters in just minutes.

We're seeking a Software Engineer to join our Insights and Telemetry (InTel) Team within Cloud Platforms. The Cloud InTel Team is responsible for helping our users understand the health and performance of their MongoDB deployments, as well as making it as simple as possible to work with their data. The InTel Team works on a variety of customer-facing UIs and APIs as well as internal data pipelines to accomplish this goal.

We are looking to speak to candidates who are based in New York City for our hybrid working model.

We're looking for someone who
  • Enjoys collaboration and being part of a team
  • Is approachable, curious, and intellectually honest
  • Has written backend systems in a compiled language (Java, C#, Go, etc.)
  • Is a backend engineer with a willingness to take on frontend tasks or a full-stack developer
  • Has experience with the design and architecture of a modern, scalable web application
  • Would enjoy chasing down difficult problems in a distributed environment
  • Always strives to expand their knowledge
Nice to Haves
  • Experience writing efficient data models and queries to write and read from large scale datasets (TB+)
  • Knowledge of database internals and tuning mechanisms, particularly indexing
  • Previous work in TypeScript, React, and Node.js, particularly maintaining an ecosystem of dependencies
Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with and learn from team members about best practices and core concepts
  • Own our core values and adhere to them in your work
  • Write code across a stack of Java, Go, and Javascript/Typescript
  • Maintain a balance between delivering software, and performing research and development
  • Assist in maintaining production systems and debugging live issues

  • Develop and lead software projects that help our users maintain and understand their MongoDB deployments

  • Represent Engineering while working with Product and Design
  • Solve problems with context in mind, balancing the needs of their team with the desire to get to the bottom of issues
