The MongoDB Cloud Engineering organization is a diverse group of contributors working together to help our users manage MongoDB at global scale. The organization is responsible for MongoDB Atlas: our database as a service offering and fastest growing product which allows users to deploy fault-tolerant, globally distributed MongoDB clusters in just minutes.

We're seeking a Senior Web Application Engineer to join the Cloud Insights & Telemetry team within MongoDB’s Cloud Engineering organization. The team is responsible for delivering products that enhance the developer experience for the millions of customers who use MongoDB to power their applications. We produce tools that make it easy to query, optimize, and analyze your MongoDB data, including Data Explorer, our browser based GUI for interacting with your MongoDB data.

We are looking to speak to candidates who are based in New York City to work out of our New York City office - for our hybrid working model.

• Is a senior backend engineer with a willingness to take on frontend tasks as needed (or is a backend leaning, full-stack engineer)
• Has written backend systems in a compiled language (Java, Go, C#, etc.)
• Has experience with the design and architecture of a modern, scalable web application
• Would enjoy chasing down difficult problems in a distributed environment
• Enjoys collaboration and being part of a team
• Is approachable, curious, and intellectually honest
• Always strives to expand their knowledge

• Previous work in TypeScript, React, and Node.js, particularly maintaining an ecosystem of dependencies
• Experience writing efficient data models and queries to write and read from large scale datasets (TB+)
• Knowledge of database internals and tuning mechanisms, particularly indexing

• Collaborate with and learn from team members about best practices and core concepts
• Own our core values and adhere to them in your work
• Write code across a stack of Java, Go, and Javascript/Typescript
• Maintain a balance between delivering software, and performing research and development
• Assist in maintaining production systems and debugging live issues
