Senior Director, Global Labor & Employment

The ChallengeAs Senior Director, Assistant General Counsel Labor & Employment, you will lead OneTrust’s global employment law and workplace compliance. You will support our People and business partners in the U.S. and worldwide, providing pragmatic, risk-weighted advice on a broad range of employment matters affecting our workforce. In addition, you must have the ability to operate independently in a fast-paced, rapidly growing environment and be comfortable working collaboratively and proactively within the legal team as well as across other functional teams and with external stakeholders. This position is a people manager role reporting to the Deputy General Counsel.
Your Mission- Responsible for executing and providing proactive legal strategies, services, and counsel across the enterprise in employment and employee relations. This position will work closely with People, the business and leadership in designing and executing the Company’s employment compliance strategies, global policies and procedures, training and investigation management. Services are coordinated with the corporate functions and business units to accomplish world-class delivery in a cost-effective manner.
- Manage team supporting and advising OneTrust’s People and business partners on employment-law related matters for OneTrust on a global basis, including hiring, performance management, terminations, discrimination, harassment, accommodations, leaves of absence, wage and hour issues, incentive compensation, employee investigations, restructuring plans and corporate development (M&A) activity
- Advise on policy decisions, emerging risk areas, and risk mitigation strategies
- Develop and oversee efficient, scalable approaches for providing employment law and litigation support, including through the innovative use of digital technologies and workflow improvements
- Oversee the drafting and negotiation of offer letters and employment-related agreements, including severance, separation, restrictive covenant, retention, and other employment-related agreements; draft employee-facing policies, handbooks, and other resources

- Monitor new laws, regulations and decisions affecting the substantive legal areas above and provide strategic advice to company leadership
- Help lead training events on employment law, litigation, and compliance related matters
- Advise regarding labor matters, including works councils and navigating labor laws in relevant non-U.S. locations
- Manage and direct employment-related aspects of mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, supporting related integration efforts
- Draft and/or review documents, including correspondence with opposing counsel, EEO position statements, mediation statements, and pleadings
- Direct Company responses to demand letters, agency matters, government-initiated inquiries and relevant audits
- Manage relationships and costs with outside counsel handling employment litigation and advisory matters
- Support Legal department and team related projects, as assigned
- JD from an accredited U.S. law school
- Admitted to practice in the U.S. and in good standing.
- 12+ years employment law practice, in-house experience required, preferably with cloud and software industries, including SaaS
- Fluency translating legal advice into practical, risk adjusted, business-oriented advice
- Strong work ethic and the highest level of integrity and business ethics
- International employment law experience highly preferred, with experience supporting international business operations and partnering with non-U.S. HR and other professionals.
- Ability to maintain productive work relationships and work collaboratively with legal area specialists to resolve issues
For California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, New York, Rhode Island, and Washington-based candidates: the annual base pay range for this role is listed below. Within this range, individual pay is determined by several factors, including location, job-related skills, work experience, and relevant education and/or training. This role may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, equity, and/or commissions, as well as benefits.
