Luminar Technologies is seeking a Senior Engineering Program Manager to lead Simulation and Lidar software development projects through all phases of the software lifecycle. This role oversees technical engagement cross-functionally within Luminar and ensures successful development and value delivery to customers. Responsibilities
- Engage with other EPMs and represent Simulation and Lidar software in all technical aspects of development.
- Evaluate new opportunities and help establish engineering contacts, helping to launch new projects, seeking to generate new business value.
- Market and demonstrate our software products to internal stakeholders, supporting business development and product management efforts for opportunistic markets.
- Oversee all technical alignment within Luminar’s software development program including systems engineering and architecture, requirements management, safety plans and software integration architecture in compliance with ASPICE.
- Create and take ownership of technical project plans from early stages until series production.
- Estimate required resources and determine headcount for staffing plans.
- Coordinate feature roll out plans and software release plans between the customer and the internal software development.
- Track results of all required tests, analyze release blockers, and enable successful resolution.
- Continuously evaluate the efficiency of existing processes and procedures of change and release management to improve best practices.
- Ensure all features are delivered with the highest quality and meet all requirements.
- Identify any team/process gaps and collaborate with internal product and technology teams to define the necessary development to support solution delivery.
- Identify and manage project risks.
- Prepare and disseminate project status reports, including KPIs.
- Drive implementation activities and work cross-functionally with other software engineers.
- Expected to travel up to 10% of the time, for customer project development and execution.
- BS, MS in Computer Science & Engineering, Engineering Management, or a related field
- PMP, CSM certification preferred
- 5+ years of work experience in automotive industry
- 3+ years of technical project management experience including shipping products
- Knowledge of automotive and safety development standards (AutoSAR, ASPICE, ISO26262)
- Knowledge of waterfall and agile project management methodologies and tools
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to motivate others, drive collaboration, and quickly resolve conflicts
- Enjoy working within a dynamic and continuously evolving environment
- Able to work successfully in cross-functional teams, especially across organizational and geographical boundaries

At Luminar, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. This role pays a base between $102,000 and $142,000* per year. Within this range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. You will also be eligible to receive other benefits including: equity in the form of restricted stock unit awards, comprehensive medical and dental coverage, 401k plan, life and disability benefits, flexible time off, paid parental leave, and tuition reimbursement for formal education related to advancing your career at Luminar. The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire and schedule type.
