What's the opportunity? 🤔

Reporting to the Accounting Manager, this position will have the highly impactful role of helping develop a world-class accounting organization. You will collaborate on various areas within the accounting function (Month-end close, financial reporting, internal controls, etc.) and be able to work with the support of the Revenue, Finance, IT, and Legal teams.

We are seeking a driven, open-minded, and technically strong individual who is passionate about accounting operations and driving process improvements. This role requires excellent communication skills, strong knowledge of accounting principles including US GAAP, and the ability to work with various cross-functional teams.

What will I be doing? 🚀
  • Assist in day-to-day accounting activities to ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, internal policies and external audits.
  • Provide insightful financial analysis and support to management, highlighting key trends, variances, and areas for improvement
  • Prepare various account reconciliations, schedules, exhibits and summaries to support the general ledger balances
  • Post monthly journal entries for assigned accounts
  • Collaborate with various departments, including Financial Reporting, FP&A, Payroll, and Accounts Payable teams for proper recording of transactions
  • Partner with other departments to obtain necessary information to create monthly/quarterly accruals
  • Participate in internal and external audits by preparing and explaining deliverables
  • Perform various special projects, ad-hoc requests, and other assigned tasks
  • Work on process optimization and automation efforts to improve efficiency and effectiveness of our monthly close process and of our internal and external reporting requirements.
What skills do I need? 📖
  • 5+ years of experience in public accounting or operations
  • Ability to challenge the status quo and leverage technology to build scalable processes, gain efficiencies, streamline accounting operations and improve outcomes.
  • Excellent technical, analytical, and communication skills, both written and verbal, with strong attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of NetSuite and FloQast preferred
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Ability to perform tasks with a high degree of accuracy and timeliness.
  • Strong analytical, research and problem solving skills
  • Ability to multitask, work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy.
Preferred Qualifications 🙌
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • CPA a strong plus
  • 1-2 years in either public accounting and/or industry

The base salary range for candidates within the San Francisco Bay Area is $131,800 - $155,000. Actual base pay will depend on a variety of factors such as education, skills, experience, location, etc. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. All regular employees may also be eligible for the corporate bonus program or a sales incentive (target included in OTE) as well as stock in the form of Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). 

Intercom has a hybrid working policy. We believe that working in person helps us stay connected, collaborate easier and create a great culture while still providing flexibility to work from home. We expect employees to be in the office at least two days per week.
