Position Overview

The Senior Manager of Design and Construction will oversee all design, construction, and sustainability initiatives within our leased real estate portfolio. This role requires a blend of strategic leadership, project management, and team development skills to drive forward our commitment to sustainability while ensuring our workplaces are optimized for productivity and employee well-being.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Planning - Develop a comprehensive design, construction, and workplace sustainability strategy aligned with the company's goals and values.
  • Project Management  - Lead the planning, design, and construction of new office spaces, renovations, and upgrades, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to high-quality standards.
  • Sustainability Leadership -  Drive sustainability initiatives across all aspects of workplace design and operations, including energy efficiency, waste reduction, carbon footprint reduction, and sustainable materials sourcing.
  • Vendor Management - Oversee relationships with external vendors, contractors, and consultants, ensuring alignment with sustainability goals and adherence to project timelines and budgets.
  • Team Leadership -  Build and lead a high-performing team of design, construction, and sustainability professionals, providing mentorship, guidance, and professional development opportunities
  • Stakeholder Collaboration—Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including Workplace Operations, Physical Security and Safety, Real Estate, HR, Recruiting, People Operations, and Finance teams, to align workplace design and sustainability efforts with broader company objectives.
  • Performance Monitoring -Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the effectiveness of design, construction, and sustainability initiatives, regularly reporting progress to senior leadership.
  • Qualifications

    • A bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, Sustainability, or a related field is required; a master's degree is preferred.
    • A minimum of  8 years of experience in design, construction, and sustainability management is required, along with a proven track record of leading successful projects.
    • Strong understanding of sustainable building practices, green building certifications (LEED, WELL, etc.), and environmental regulations.
    •  Excellent project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage budgets, and lead cross-functional teams.
    • Strategic thinker who can develop and execute long-term plans while also addressing immediate needs and challenges.
    •  Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
    • People Leadership experience, including hiring, coaching, and developing team member

    Location: PST - Central Timezone. Preference is near an existing office location.

    Below is the annual On Target Compensation (OTE) range for candidates located in California, Colorado, New York and Washington. Your actual OTE, which is inclusive of base salary and incentive compensation, will depend on factors such as your skills, qualifications, experience, and work location. In addition, Okta offers equity (where applicable) and benefits, including health, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), flexible spending account, and paid leave (including PTO and parental leave) in accordance with our applicable plans and policies.     The annual OTE range for this position for candidates located in California, Colorado, New York, and Washington is between:$125,000—$208,000 USD The OTE range for this position for candidates located in the San Francisco Bay area is between:$155,000—$233,000 USD
