THE ROLE

The PMRO plays a crucial role in managing the integrated portfolio plan for key accounts. This position is responsible for maintaining adherence to established governance processes, implementing change controls, and fostering collaboration between internal and client program and project managers. It demands exceptional skills in planning, communication, and problem-solving.

 

Key Responsibilities include:

 

  • Prioritisation of activities across professional services to achieve organisational objectives.
  • Rigorous scrutiny and monitoring of projects and programmes to ensure effective delivery of projects and their objectives and realisation of intended benefits, thus enabling effective decision-making.
  • Optimal alignment between the resources for programmes or projects and the availability of business end-users.
  • Prioritised management of the impact of programmes and projects on routine business operations.
  • Overseeing the delivery of a Project Management Office (PMO) resource throughout the entire program lifecycle, from the initial business case to implementation. This involves working collaboratively with stakeholders and professional services as a unified team.

Specific duties

1 - Project Planning and Portfolio Management

· Develop and maintain a portfolio plan with the Head of Projects for North Somerset and WECA accounts, ensuring alignment with the organisation’s goals, and remaining with project budgets and boundaries.

· Evaluate project alignment with strategic objectives, prioritise projects based on strategic value, and manage resource allocation efficiently.

2 - Governance and Compliance

· Ensure adherence to portfolio governance processes and establish change control procedures to manage project scope and changes effectively.

· Conduct project reviews and audits to ensure projects comply with established standards, promoting continuous improvement.

3 - Risk Management and Quality Control

· Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate potential risks and issues.

· Develop, update, and maintain project documentation, plans, risk, and issues logs, ensuring projects meet quality criteria and standards.

4 - Stakeholder Engagement and Communication

· Foster collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders, client directors, and external partners.

· Ensure effective communication and reporting on project status, financials, progress, and risks to all stakeholders.

5 - Change Management and Process Improvement

· Implement robust change management practices and embrace a culture of innovation and agility to identify and act on opportunities for improvement.

· Capture and share lessons learned and best practices to enhance future project delivery.

6 - Training and Team Leadership

· Coach and mentor project professionals, providing training and support to enhance project management skills and knowledge.

· Direct and motivate project teams, ensuring deliverables meet the required outcomes within specified time and cost constraints.

7 - Project Management Methodologies

· Establish and standardise project management processes, methodologies, tools, and templates across teams.

· Support iterative planning and delivery, embedding stakeholder management throughout the project lifecycle.

8 - Strategic Support and Documentation

· Assist in producing key project management documentation, ensuring stakeholder and user voices shape project design and delivery.

· Work collaboratively with project sponsors, stakeholders, and teams to ensure project delivery is aligned with benefits realisation.

9 - Organisational Compliance and Culture

· Champion a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and compliance with organisational policies and regulations.
