About the role:

We are searching for a highly motivated Senior Revenue Accountant to join our growing Accounting team. Reporting directly to the VP, Financial Controller, this role offers a unique opportunity for high visibility and meaningful interaction with various departments across our organization. Our company operates at a rapid pace, and we continuously develop processes, tackle complex challenges, and manage competing priorities on a daily basis.

In this position, your primary focus will be to take ownership of key parts of the month-end close, leading initiatives aimed at enhancing the speed and accuracy of our reporting cycle. As a Senior Revenue Accountant, your contributions will have a profound impact on our accounting operations, cross-functional projects, and our preparedness for audits. We are open to remote US candidates in the Eastern, Central and Mountain time zones (to ensure adequate overlap with our European teams).

Responsibilities:
  • Support month-end close process efforts, including preparation of necessary journal entries, analysis of accounts, reconciliations of revenue, deferred revenue and other related accounts, and other financial reporting requirements.
  • You will consistently review data within the revenue system and verify it is meeting expectations for GAAP compliance, review contracts for non-standard terms that would require special accounting treatment under ASC 606 and spearhead streamlining the automation of month-end reporting.
  • Support processing and review of subscription contracts, billing, and revenue schedules within Zuora and Chargebee. 
  • As the company grows, you will own configuration changes within the revenue system and work with the Controller to implement company-wide revenue accounting policies and practices to ensure the Company’s compliance with ASC 606.
  • Prepare capitalized commission and amortization journal entries and reconciliations in accordance with ASC 606.
  • Oversee customer tax exemption certificate management and sales tax compliance.
  • Participate in revenue accounting and quote to cash cycle special projects, including leading the implementation of new subscription revenue management platform, Chargebee.
  • Support cross-department efforts and build relationships with other teams including accounting, FP&A, sales, deal desk and legal.
  • Assist deal desk in determining revenue accounting impact of prospective deals.
  • Assist in identifying opportunities for revenue and quote to cash process efficiencies.
  • Implement and document processes and procedures for compliance purposes.
  • Support the completion of the external audit with Big 4 audit firm.
The ideal candidate:
  • Must have a strong knowledge of US GAAP with experience in ASC 606
  • Must have a bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA is preferred.
  • Has a minimum 4 years of progressive accounting experience in a fast-paced environment, SAAS industry preferred.
  • Has 2 years of experience with a large regional or Big Four audit firm, strongly preferred.
  • Has multi-entity experience with multi-currency international consolidations.
  • Has strong systems expertise. Experience with Netsuite is a plus and ideally has experience in other tools in our accounting stack (Zuora, Chargebee, Salesforce, Spiff).
  • Has the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Has a track record of identifying issues and developing creative solutions with limited guidance, and the ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing circumstances.
