The Checkout team is responsible for the end-to-end Checkout experience for all Airbnb products. This is core to Airbnb’s success and our goal is to optimize the booking flow to make it easier to book an incredible trip on Airbnb. 

We’re solving multi-faceted product problems at the heart of our business. Just to name a few:

• Ensuring accurate and comprehensive information for guests to make the best decision
• Optimizing booking funnel with custom user experience to meet various guest needs
• Streamlining frictions to make it easy to follow while protecting our community effectively
• Improving recovery flows to help guests resume booking progress seamlessly
• Improving page load performance for checkout experience

The Checkout team also has a broad scope in technology. We are developing a scalable and performant platform solution that supports ourselves and partner teams including Payments, Trust, Experience, etc with robust and fast iteration to optimize our product effectively, which means you’ll have ownership and impact on large chunks of our core product. As a team member, you’ll help grow the team and have lots of responsibility.

Your day-to-day responsibilities includes:

• Collaborate with Product Managers, Experience Designers and Engineers to design and deliver high-quality products and platforms.
• Build efficient and reusable backend components and architect reliable, performant, and scalable systems.
• Build new features and improve existing features 
• Follow data-driven approaches to conduct experiments and iterate features.
• Evaluate and prototype with new technologies and techniques that can be added to our tech stack
• Mentor and support other engineers in the team and related teams

• 7+ years engineering experience with a BS/Masters and 2+ years with a PhD
• Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree, preferably in CS, or equivalent experience
• Experience in building and scaling high-quality and high-traffic products (or systems).
• Ability to evaluate technical approaches and design product solutions to solve real-world problems.
• Ability to drive alignment, manage projects and effectively collaborate with stakeholders.
• Mentorship to junior developers

This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed to with your manager.
