As an engineer at Lyft, you'll collaborate with teams like sales, product, data science, analytics, and operations on code that empowers us to iterate quickly while focusing on delighting our passengers and drivers.

As a Staff Software Engineer for Partners, you will lead multiple work streams that improve partner experience with the Org. In addition, you will focus on incentivizing businesses, partners to prefer Lyft, building differentiated features for specific use-cases like travel, healthcare & media and integrating strategic partners into the Lyft rideshare ecosystem. As an engineer on our team, you'll work hand in hand with various teams across Lyft, fostering collaboration and driving innovation to increase the adoption & usage of Lyft.

Responsibilities:
  • Define technical roadmap for team, identifying areas that need improvement and leading cross-team solutions
  • Provide technical leadership for an org of 30 - 40 engineers
  • Identify, architect, and build the right systems or products to improve the business
  • Write well-crafted, well-tested, readable, maintainable code
  • Have a good grasp and ability to explain the various trade-offs made in decisions
  • Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and distribute knowledge 
  • Proactively participate in resolving ongoing incidents 
  • Enable collaboration across multiple teams to deliver on cross-team initiatives, while delegating ownership and uplifting those around them
  • Share your knowledge by giving brown bags, tech talks, and evangelizing appropriate tech and engineering best practices
  • Assist in creating a long-term technical vision for the Org
Experience:
  • BS/MS or equivalent in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field or relevant work experience
  • 20+ years of software engineering industry experience
  • Experience designing, debugging and running fault-tolerant, highly available, large-scale distributed systems
  • Experience working with public cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Microsoft Azure, etc.)
  • Proficiency in scripting languages to use APIs to automate manual processes
  • Experience with common CI tools (Jenkins, Buildkite, CircleCI, TeamCity), and proficiency in at least one of those tools
  • Sold knowledge of distributed systems, relational and NoSQL databases
  • Ability to communicate in English in writing, meeting and presentations
  • Proven experience in creating and implementing long-term technical visions.
  • Strong understanding of system architecture principles and data strategies.
  • Experience in designing target state architectures for multiple products.
  • Expertise in evolving engineering systems to be more efficient and reliable.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop engineering talent
  • Experience in identifying and leveraging technical synergies across different business units.

This role will be in-office on a hybrid schedule — Team Members will be expected to work in the office 3 days per week on Mondays, Thursdays and a team-specific third day. Additionally, hybrid roles have the flexibility to work from anywhere for up to 4 weeks per year.

The expected range of pay for this position in the San Francisco area is $200,000 - $250,000. Salary ranges are dependent on a variety of factors, including qualifications, experience and geographic location. Range is not inclusive of potential equity offering, bonus or benefits.
