The HashiCorp R&D Operations group is dedicated to driving operational excellence across our rapidly scaling R&D organization. Within this group, the R&D Product team partners with Engineering, Product, and Design leaders to plan and deliver new products and enhancements to existing products. Our mission is to deploy best-in-class Technical Program Management skills, process, and tooling to enable the delivery, at scale, of performant, enterprise-ready products and product enhancements that delight and solve problems for our customers.
As part of the R&D Operations team, you'll improve and execute on the strategy and operations within R&D at HashiCorp. You will drive complex programs and initiatives requiring cross-functional collaboration across multiple disciplines. You will work collaboratively across multiple geographies to execute work against detailed program plans, tracking milestones, and reporting status, including appropriate risk escalation as needed.
You will be responsible for bringing cohesion and collaboration across engineering, product, design and other cross-functional partners for product development, delivery, and launch. You should have a strong appreciation for scaling up our processes, thrive in a dynamic environment, and have excellent interpersonal skills.
Our R&D team, as well as the other cross-functional teams you'll work with, are largely remote, and many are working in other geos such as U.S., Canada, Europe, and India. While prior experience working remotely isn't required, we are looking for team members who perform well given a high level of independence. Excellent systems thinking, collaboration & communication, and team-building skills are required to collaborate effectively with organizational leaders in other functions.
More specifically, in this role you can expect to:
- Track and manage timelines and report status and risks for critical customer escalations, working cross-functionally with stakeholders across the entire organization
- Lead coordination and planning for product-specific and cross-product programs to ensure that the processes run smoothly for the team
- Work closely with leadership teams to drive execution of strategic initiatives, proactively identifying risks & obstacles along with mitigation plans
- Manage the collaboration between engineering, product, design, and other functions by identifying priorities, defining cross-functional milestones, and creating plans
- Work with HCP (HashiCorp Cloud platform) and Security teams to identify product dependencies, drive alignment and interlocks, and track ongoing progress
- Create and manage detailed program plans including scope, dependency, risks
- Own systems for project documentation, status tracking, portfolios, dashboards and communication between project stakeholders to ensure overall program health
- Establish, drive and continuously improve standards for processes that promote a high standard for product delivery and efficiency of teams
- Contribute to an environment that's conducive to great execution culture and removes obstacles to project completion
- Work closely with leadership teams and operational teams on priority and productivity process improvements
What you’ll need (basic qualifications)
- 5+ years of experience in an R&D program management role driving projects through full product life cycle
- Familiarity with HashiCorp products
- Knowledge of distributed software architecture and cloud technologies
- Proven ability to creatively solve complicated problems
- Excellent verbal & written communication skills, understanding of the needs of all stakeholders, and a track record of delivering projects
- Experience in a rapid-growth organization, working cross-functionally with teams delivering enterprise software
- Strong bias for action and an intrinsic ability to deal with ambiguity
What's nice to have (preferred qualifications)
- Experience in working with customer issues (though this role is not directly customer facing)
- Experience in managing cross functional responses to customer escalations
- Experience in Cloud computing and familiarity with Cloud computing concepts and terms
- Experience in working with enterprise-level commercial software

Individual pay within the range will be determined based on job related-factors such as skills, experience, and education or training.
The base pay range for this role in the SF Bay Area / NYC area is:$182,800—$215,000 USDThe base pay range for this role in Seattle Metro, Denver / Boulder Metro, New York (excluding NYC), Washington D.C., or California (excluding SF Bay Area) is:$167,500—$197,100 USDThe base pay range for this role in Colorado (excluding Denver / Boulder Metro) and Washington (excluding Seattle Metro) is:$152,300—$179,200 USD
