What’s the role?

Senior Writers at Huge are driven to craft innovative copy solutions – people who are enthusiastic about language and critique subway ads on the way to the office. They understand that users’ time is limited and space constraints are always a concern and write copy accordingly. Our writers create content, digital media and concepts for a wide variety of users and user needs, while collaborating daily with designers, strategy and UX.

They understand and anticipate the needs and concerns of their team members so they can come up with a kick-ass copy that rises above those challenges. Our Senior Writers understand that cutting copy down is just as important to this job as writing (great) copy in the first place. They are confident in their abilities and believe in the writing they produce, and they can represent the writer’s (and reader’s) perspective in work sessions and review. Our clients come from a wide variety of backgrounds and a copywriter should be able to adjust their writing accordingly – one day you may be creating copy for a fast-food chain, the next a financial institution. Don’t just have a strong voice; have a lot of them.

What will you do?

STORYTELLER:

  • Craft compelling narratives from dry, functional information that resonate deeply with emotions.
  • View all products, services, and features through a brand lens, crafting stories that evoke behavioral change.

BIG PICTURE THINKER:

  • Possess awareness of how their ideas fit within the broader context.
  • Identify connections between user journeys and capitalize on opportunities for enrichment.

EXECUTES TONE:

  • Expertise in identifying and executing the voice of a brand across various channels and conversations.
  • Recognize the importance of tonality as a key differentiator for both brand and consumer.

GROWTH MINDED:

  • Adaptability to extend thinking across diverse spaces beyond traditional UX writing.
  • Shape and influence projects across headlines, manifestos, and strategy to drive storytelling impact universally.
What do we expect from you?
  • Proven ability to create copy for a variety of audiences, brands, and industries, with 4+ years of experience.
  •  An appreciation for the relationship between textual and visual elements. Copy doesn’t exist in a vacuum, and unless your words and the designs are working together, we’re not producing work that meets (and rises above) our standards.
  • Strong copy editing and proofing skills. Attention to small details in both copy decks and designs won’t just save everyone headaches, it’s extremely important.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet strict deadlines, often while working independently. Our copywriters are able to put their heads down and produce awesome work without constant supervision.
  • Ability to communicate with both internal teams and clients.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing exceptional design solutions and client work.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate design concepts to clients and stakeholders.
  • Proven experience in solely managing world-class clients and their brands with programs that have teams managing multiple tracks of work to develop world-class work.
  • A passion for ideas, and storytelling, namely, making work that strives to deliver an impact and foster meaningful connections with the user through your creations.
  • Experience and passion for making connections between different disciplines and crafts within creative, and within the organization: Working with project management to shape scopes, client service to grow relationships with clients, and collaborating with strategy to craft briefs and stories that connect, inspire, and help clients make the best decisions about the work we make for them.
What’s a plus?
  • Solid understanding of UI/UX design principles for digital products.
  • Active participation in the design community in the form of organizations around topics related to the craft, and other networks pertaining to design community involvement.
  • Awareness of current design trends and technologies.
