Our Opportunity:

We are looking for a Software Engineer II at our facility in Boston, Massachusetts, to support the design, development, testing, and implementation of applications and related integrations that support Chewy’s critical customer-facing platform.

 

What You’ll Do: 

  • Participate in the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including performing independent requirements analysis.
  • Engage in iterative development, testing, and make contributions to the growth and development of one of Chewy’s fastest growing areas.
  • Partner with both technical and business teams on multiple initiatives and collaborate to deliver new features and enhancements.
  • Develop indepth knowledge of several Chewy business processes and systems environment.
  • Actively participate in the definition, design, development, testing and implementation of software functionality using the Agile methodology.
  • Create or modify complex programs, modules, routines, scripts and data objects from a detailed design where efficiency, performance and reliability are critical.
  • Responsible for developing and testing applications in web technologies, including Java, Cypress, React, Terraform, and Spring Boot, among others.
  • Work with and advise both business and technology teams (internal and external) on how best to implement desired features and enhancements, including working with web services such as SOAP, HTTP, and REST.
  • Ensure that technical solutions follow best practices, are reliable, are easily maintainable and are scalable under sustained load.
  • Participate in design and code reviews.
  • Collaborate to identify, isolate and resolve malfunctions related to software.
  • Conduct knowledge transition on solutions to the designated application support teams.
  • Create and evolve application documentation as required.
  • Leverage SQL and develop applications using relational database technologies including Postgres.
  • Operate in compliance with IT standards, policies, procedures, and best practices, as well as assist with identifying, isolation, and resolving software-related malfunctions within Chewy’s customer platform.
  • Telecommuting permitted.

 

What You’ll Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, and 3 years of experience.
  • The company will accept a Master’s degree and 1 year of experience.
  • Experience must include 1 year with: full software development cycle including performing independent analysis;
  • Java 8, Spring Boot, Hibernate, JQuery, JSON, React, Automation Testing Frameworks, HTML5, CSS3, and Spring MVC;
  • SQL and developing applications with relational database technologies including PostGres;
  • Web server technologies; and
  • Web services including SOAP, HTTP, and REST.
