About the job

This position is needed to develop the future platform of communications. Twilio SMS Engineering is looking for a Software Engineer to join our team to work on our SMS connectivity layer with the purpose to build and optimize for delivery. You will be developing a complex distributed platform in Java and be concerned with availability, throughput, latency, and data integrity. At the core are cloud technologies that enable deployment and management of computing resources globally.

Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll:

  • Design, develop, test and deploy features alongside a small, distributed collaborative team
  • Participating in code reviews to ensure code quality and adherence to coding standards.
  • Work independently to troubleshoot/determine resolution for issues in your team's domain
  • Managing your work through the use of Github, Jira, and our build/deploy systems
  • Ensure quality by writing unit-, integration- and load-tests
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.

Required: 

  • 2 years of experience with Java frameworks such as Dropwizard, Spring, Hibernate, or similar.
  • Experience with cloud services (AWS preferred, Google, Azure etc.)
  • Strong Computer Science fundamentals not limited to data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and distributed systems
  • Knowledge of processes and engineering best practices in all phases of the software development life cycle
  • Readiness to participate in the on-call rotation
  • Strong communication skills and desire to make an impact and thrive in small, collaborative, energetic teams

Desired:

  • Experience with microservice architecture
  • Experience working with Agile/Scrum methodologies
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)

Location

 This role will be based remote from Estonia or based in our Tallinn, Estonia office.

Travel
