Sr. Associate, Store Operations Implementation

The Sr. Associate of Implementation is key partner on the Store Operations team and will work with cross-functional partners to support the Company 's expansion of physical retail.  This role will serve as a key position on the implementation team for new store openings, new initiatives, and processes at our physical retail locations around the country. When not implementing, this role will help create and iterate store implementation guides, training, facilitation materials, standard operating procedures, process enhancements, and key business objectives.  Much of this will be accomplished through a heavy focus on touring site locations, gathering feedback from stakeholders, and relaying communications back to the office.  Key business functions that this position will help with are: executing the new store opening playbook, delivering training, inventory management, creating a best in class operating model, infusion of omni elements, and innovating to build the store of the future.  

This role will have frequent travel (90%).  This position currently reports to the Sr. Manager of Implementation. As the retail portfolio grows, this position should expect to support an increasing number of store locations and processes.  Ultimately, this position is a key member of the Wayfair Physical Retail Operations team that will help craft the playbook to stand up and scale stores in North America across all five Wayfair brands (Wayfair, All Modern, Birch Lane, Joss & Main, Perigold).

What You’ll Do:

  • Help create a new store implementation playbook/guide
  • Assist in the Facilitation of inventory management and operations training to field teams
  • Act as a liaison between Store Operations, Field Management and Cross Functional Partners
  • Utilizing New Store Opening Procedures to keep team tasks on track and communicate any proactive needs
  • Partner with the key cross functional teams to ensure appropriate support for all new stores openings
  • Provide accurate recaps following each New Store Opening and distribute to appropriate parties
  • Develop and maintain high level of knowledge regarding store operational processes and procedures
  • Under managerial direction, develop and/or revise new store opening procedures
  • Ensure that new store testing and operational functions are up and running prior to work beginning (i.e networking, operations infrastructure)
  • Work directly with stores and field management to evaluate processes and seek opportunities for continuous process improvement
  • Ensures understanding of strategies, change initiatives, business opportunities and communicates them in compelling ways to the Store’s Organization
  • Future testing and iterating operations within the stores

What You’ll Need:

  • Associate or Bachelor Degree or equivalent experience (preferably in Business, or Project Management)
  • 5+ years of Physical Retail experience required, with preferred experience in standing up and running a retail store
  • Strong business management skills; demonstrated ability to create and lead important strategic initiatives
  • Able to collaborate across all levels of the organization to achieve objectives
  • Evidence of 'scrappy start-up execution ' and a 'get it done ' attitude when time is tight and stakes are high
  • Technical acumen to learn necessary software; experience with Google Cloud G Suite, including Docs, Sheets, Slides and forms preferred.
  • Experience working independently in an ambiguous environment with minimal supervision.

  • Enjoy frequent business travel across the U.S.(90%)

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; regularly climb or balance; and frequently stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly, frequently or occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Travel by Air/Rail/Car (90%+ travel requirement)
