Sr. Developer Advocate 

Location: Based in The Netherlands or the UK (remote)

  About the team

At HashiCorp, the Developer Advocacy team acts as a bridge between the developer community and our internal product and engineering teams. Our mission is to empower practitioners by forming meaningful relationships, sharing best practices, and improving the developer experience through feedback and collaboration. We embody HashiCorp’s tao and principles , supporting practitioners in adopting and thriving with our tools while helping internal teams understand the needs of our community.

What you’ll do (responsibilities)
  • Build compelling presentations, demos, technical blogs, and sample solutions showcasing HashiCorp products.
  • Prototype technical integrations between HashiCorp products and the broader ecosystem.
  • Actively engage and support the developer community through events like conferences, meetups, and hackathons. 
  • Represent practitioner needs internally by providing feedback on bugs, creating feature requests, and documenting product friction and potential features in support of improving product. 
  • Maintain a strong social media presence and credibility in channels relevant to developers and operators.
  • Define, encourage, and drive adoption of HashiCorp tools within the community.
  • Engage as a technical spokesperson for HashiCorp as requested.
  • Support peers and community members as needed through code reviews, pairing, and collaborative development -modeling a high standard for team practices.
  • Communicate project status, issues, and milestones clearly to teams and stakeholders.
  • Act as a mentor and resource for junior advocates and engineers, sharing technical knowledge and process guidance.
  • Contribute to product vision discussions and suggest improvements for user experience, design, and documentation.

 

What you’ll need (basic qualifications)
  • Experience with Terraform or another Infrastructure as Code tool..
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in Engineering, DevOps, or a related technical field.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to engage developers and engineers.
  • Hands-on experience writing code and contributing to or managing open-source projects.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure management concepts and operations lifecycle.
  • Strong customer focus, ownership, initiative, and drive.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment within established practices.
  • Eagerness to travel for conferences,  community events, and meetups as needed.

 

What's nice to have (preferred qualifications)
  • Experience with other HashiCorp and/or Ecosystem tools (Packer, Vault, Boundary, Nomad, Consul, Kubernetes, etc.)
  • Proven experience building and delivering large technical projects independently.
  • Recognized speaker at technical conferences or events.
  • Broad understanding of user personas and the developer/operator ecosystem.
  • Familiarity with building maintainable systems and applying repeatable workflows for troubleshooting and improvements.
  • Proactive in suggesting product, UX, or documentation improvements that enhance the full user experience (“whole product” thinking).
  • Ability to reflect on work processes and influence broader team growth and improvement.
  • Experience developing leadership skills and mentoring other team members.
  • Experience in a scale industry vertical (Finance, Gaming, Government, or other)
