HCP Terraform is one of the primary products of HashiCorp’s infrastructure suite, designed to unify and automate infrastructure provisioning and management across a wide variety of cloud and on-premise environments. The HCP Terraform product enables seamless workflows for Terraform users by providing commercial-grade enhancements to the Terraform Community Edition, creating a unique value proposition for customers looking to scale their infrastructure management.

We are seeking an experienced Product Manager to lead and shape the future of HCP Terraform workflows. 

The primary responsibility of this role is to develop and enhance the HCP Terraform Git workflow for Platform Engineers and Module Authors. This role will work closely with the Terraform team, focusing on improving HCP Terraform’s Workspaces workflow, and delivering a world-class experience for users managing infrastructure at scale.

Responsibilities

• Product Strategy and Vision:
• Define and execute the product strategy for HCP Terraform workflows, focusing on the Platform Engineer managing IaC in Version Control System (VCS) as well as the Module Author
• Awareness of nuances of Git and providing a great product experience for git workflows
• Collaborate with the Terraform team to ensure alignment on key features, leveraging the power of Terraform while enhancing the value of HCP Terraform’s commercial offering.
• Developing a dedicated workflow for Module Authors to write, develop, test, and publish modules in the Private Registry
• Roadmap Prioritization and Delivery:
• Own and manage the product roadmap for HCP Terraform VCS-driven workflow, prioritizing features that enhance Workspaces and deliver a superior user experience.
• Own and manage the product roadmap for HCP Terraform Module Authorship workflow.
• Develop and maintain Product Requirement Documents (PRDs) and collaborate with engineering to ensure timely and high-quality feature releases.
• Customer-Centric Product Development:
• Engage with customers of HCP Terraform to understand their workflows, pain points, and needs for commercial enhancements.
• Conduct user research, interviews, and usability testing to inform product decisions, ensuring that HCP Terraform workflow delivers value beyond the open-source offering.
• Collaboration with Terraform Language/CLI Team:
• Partner closely with the Terraform team to align on new Terraform language/CLI features and ensure that the work smoothly and effectively in HCP Terraform
• Drive discussions and decision-making around workflow improvements, ensuring that HCP Terraform meets the needs of both enterprise customers and the broader Terraform community.
• Go-to-Market Support:
• Collaborate with the marketing, sales, and support teams to highlight the unique value proposition of HCP Terraform for enterprise users.
• Build and maintain relationships with Version Control System Providers such as GitHub, Gitlab, etc.

Skills and Experience

• 3+ years of product management experience with developer tools, infrastructure-as-code, or cloud infrastructure products.
• Familiarity with Developer Tools and Cloud providers (such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), with experience working on infrastructure provisioning workflows.
• Experience with commercializing developer facing products
• Strong understanding of Git and Version Control Systems.
• Strong technical acumen with a solid understanding of cloud infrastructure, infrastructure-as-code, and Git workflows.
• Proven ability to balance community-driven open-source development with commercial product enhancements that drive enterprise adoption.
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams (engineering, design, sales, marketing) to deliver products that meet customer needs.
• Strong user research and analytical skills, with the ability to prioritize features based on customer feedback and strategic goals.

Individual pay within the range will be determined based on job related-factors such as skills, experience, and education or training.

The base pay range for this role in the SF Bay Area / NYC area is:$165,800—$195,000 USDThe base pay range for this role in Seattle Metro, Denver / Boulder Metro, New York (excluding NYC), Washington D.C., or California (excluding SF Bay Area) is:$152,000—$178,800 USDThe base pay range for this role in Colorado (excluding Denver / Boulder Metro) and Washington (excluding Seattle Metro) is:$138,100—$162,500 USD
