Staff Analytics Engineer (Global Analytics)

Our Global Analytics team within the platform tribe, plays a vital role in empowering all other tribes to make data-driven decisions globally. The team is responsible for creating efficient and effective data models for finance and providing an analytics framework and process to all SumUppers to maximise the value of data across the organisation.

The Staff Analytics Engineer role will be an individual contributor role within the team working across finance and global projects. This role will be instrumental in setting up the standards and rolling out frameworks for building data models and other analytics processes by keeping the data quality as utmost priority.   

Some of the tools and technologies used in the team:

  • Airflow, dbt for data modelling and orchestration
  • Snowflake for data warehousing
  • Tableau Online for visualisation
  • AWS Cloud for all analytics back end infrastructure
  • Python

What you’ll do:

  • Lead the design and implementation of finance and global data products that require high level of control and quality
  • Collaborate on the strategy and vision for providing a best-in-class self-service analytics platform across SumUp using data mesh principles
  • Foster knowledge sharing and advocate for the standardisation of analytics best practices by actively engaging with the data chapter.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to analytics engineers, contributing to the continuous improvement of data practices throughout the organisation. 
  • Leverage data to drive informed business decisions and outcomes through analysis, data visualisation and data storytelling

You’ll be great for this role if:

  • You have 8+ years of relevant experience in the analytics, data warehousing, data engineering domains with the ability to drive global complex data projects
  • You have a solid experience working with DBT
  • You are an expert with programming language Python and SQL 
  • You have experience in designing, building and managing complex data models at scale (normalisation techniques, Kimbal design patterns etc.,)
  • You can analyse the stakeholder needs, business requirements and translate them into data products
  • You have experience with building advanced dashboards and presenting the finding to non technical and business users
  • You have experience working with cloud data warehouse ideally, Snowflake and AWS platforms
  • You are able to coach, inspire and motivate analytics team members

Nice to have:

  • Experience with data mesh architecture
  • Any experience working with a finance domain
  • Experience with migration of legacy frameworks to dbt frameworks
