Staff Technical Program Manager, R&D Operations
HashiCorp is seeking an accomplished Staff Technical Program Manager to lead the implementation of a Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) for our R&D organization. This role will operate at a portfolio level, leading multiple complex programs, driving strategic decision-making, and fostering operational excellence within our organization.
As a Staff TPM, you will lead the charge in transforming our approach to software development. You will champion the implementation of an SDLC framework and establish workflows and shared tooling to support systematic software development and testing. You will act as a partner-leader, working with Engineering, Product and Design counterparts to shape our software development best practices and empower teams to learn and adopt a new process. You will establish a governance model for ongoing considerations for process changes and improvements, as well as actively measure and report on operational success metrics. Additionally, you will bring new techniques and unique perspectives, and serve as a coach and mentor to our TPM team.
In this role, you can expect to take on these responsibilities:
- Lead the design, development and rollout of a comprehensive SDLC framework tailored to the needs of our organization
- Independently design and execute a portfolio of complex programs that support the continued maturation of software development processes and developer productivity
- Partner with Engineering leadership, architects, and the Developer Productivity team on these business critical efforts, helping to shape and refine software development practices
- Conduct discovery, analyzing existing software development processes and tooling, identifying inefficiencies, and proposing innovative solutions
- Identify and evaluate appropriate tools and technologies to support the SDLC framework, including but not limited to, version control, continuous integration, and deployment automation
- Develop comprehensive enablement strategies and communication plans to support process adoption
- Create process documentation, training guides, and knowledge hubs
- Drive cultural change and promote a mindset of continuous improvement and innovation within the organization
- Provide guidance, training, and support to teams to ensure adherence to SDLC processes and best practices
- Establish metrics and KPIs to measure the effectiveness of the SDLC framework and drive continuous improvement
You could be successful in this role if you have these attributes:
- Proven experience as a change agent, who has driven large scale process transformations (Software Development Life Cycle, Product Development Life Cycle) within an engineering organization
- A solid understanding of software development principles, technologies, and best practices
- Familiarity with programming languages, version control systems, testing frameworks, and deployment pipelines
- In-depth understanding of Agile methodologies and the ability to tailor them according to the organization's needs
- Strong analytical skills, a second-order thinker who can evaluate alternatives, and make data-driven decisions
- Stellar presentation skills, the ability to command a room through persuasive and compelling narratives and visuals
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions and levels
- Strong bias for action and an intrinsic ability to deal with ambiguity

The base pay range for this role in the SF Bay Area / NYC area is:$204,000—$240,000 USDThe base pay range for this role in Seattle Metro, Denver / Boulder Metro, New York (excluding NYC), or California (excluding SF Bay Area) is:$187,000—$220,000 USDThe base pay range for this role in Colorado (excluding Denver / Boulder Metro) and Washington (excluding Seattle Metro) is:$170,000—$200,000 USD
