Airbnb is seeking MBA students to join the Finance organization as Strategic Finance & Analytics Intern for our 2024 Summer Intern Program from May 20, 2024 - August 9, 2024.

The Finance organization at Airbnb consists of distinct groups working on a diverse array of initiatives such as long-term strategic and financial planning, capital raising, financial and tax reporting, supplier management, construction of our office spaces, and more. 

Our Strategic Finance & Analytics (SFA) team provide strategic planning, budgeting, reporting, and analytical decision-making support to cross-functional (ie. Hosting) and functional (ie. Legal) teams across Airbnb. As an intern, you’ll be matched to one of the following teams:

  • AirCover - AirCover program provides a set of comprehensive protections that help guests resolve travel problems and protect the host community to improve overall platform experience. The program provides good stewardship of the business and helps deliver better economics. AirCover SFA team manages the program financials and partners with business to provide planning and analytical insights on new initiatives and product expansion.
  • Guest Product & Marketing - this team serves as key business partners to Product and Marketing leads to provide strategic insights and recommendations that range from sustaining the core business to launching new initiatives. The team’s focus spans the entire guest journey, from building awareness to improving in-product conversion funnel and enhancing guest retention. The work requires close collaboration with and influence over a variety of cross-functional stakeholders, including Product, Marketing, Advanced Analytics, Data Science, Research, and Engineering, to drive concrete business outcomes.

As an intern, you’ll get first-hand experience on what it is like to be a Strategic Finance & Analytics Partner at Airbnb. You’ll have the opportunity to: 

  • Analyze complex business problems and issues using data to provide insight to decision-makers
  • Identify and interpret trends and patterns based on business data and market knowledge
  • Construct and present forecasts, recommendations, and strategic/tactical plans to stakeholders and leaders
  • Create specifications for reports and analysis based on business needs and required or available data elements

A typical day:

During your internship, you’ll be integrated into a team where you’ll contribute to challenging projects. Your manager, team, and our incredible employee community will strive to be superhosts to you during the summer. We provide the support, mentorship, fun, and real world experience needed to accelerate your learning and make a real impact on our product, as Airbnb revolutionizes connection, belonging, and travel. You’ll be expected to:

  • Own and complete a capstone project* from beginning to end
  • Collaborate with multiple team members to achieve project milestones
  • Communicate with stakeholders across different teams to provide project updates
  • Seek and provide feedback throughout the internship
  • Actively participate in and contribute to the Finance team and broader Airbnb community

*Important note: Your capstone project will be dependent on the team you are placed on. Team matching will take place towards the end of the interview process. You'll have the opportunity to learn about each team and project, and will be matched to the team that best aligns with your interest.

Your expertise:

This opportunity is for current first-year, MBA students (graduating Spring 2025) enrolled full-time at a nationally-accredited business school with the following background:

  • 3-5 years of professional experience in financial planning and analysis, corporate development, consulting, private equity, investment banking, or business operations
  • Strong organizational skills and process-oriented with the ability to define and execute projects with limited guidance and unclear scope
  • Experience forming strong working relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders within and outside of finance
  • Ability to communicate clearly and persuasively through both written and verbal formats up to the executive level (e.g. Chief Financial Officer, VP of Finance, etc.)
  • Strong quantitative skills and ability to analyze complex data to distill insights and provide business recommendations
  • Experience with the following skills and tools: SQL, financial modeling, data analysis and visualization, Tableau
  • Demonstrated interest in high growth, technology, and/or hospitality companies
  • Work authorization for employment in the United States is required (CPT/OPT with 2-year STEM extension is accepted)

Preferred but not required:

  • Experience in the following areas: insurance or relevant product financial planning, actuarial and pricing analysis, technical accounting or CPA
  • Ability to conduct in-depth industry research and due diligence

How we’ll take care of you:

Our job titles may span more than one career or degree level. Our hourly intern rate is $46.15 per hour. This role may also be eligible for benefits and Employee Travel Credits. 

Your location:

This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed to with your manager. Airbnb, Inc. can employ in states where we have registered entities. Currently, employees can not be located in: Alaska, Indiana, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin, Alabama, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Delaware and Rhode Island.
