Chewy is seeking an experienced Stylist Manager to join our in-house creative production studio based in Dallas, TX. Our In-house Photo/Video Studio is looking for an exceptional hands-on people leader to manage Stylists as they support our Chewy Studios Art Department. This operational role will report to the Art Department Manager and will support coordination of set and styling resources for the Art Department.

 

You will be responsible for motivating and developing members of your team while they execute high-quality, high-volume content. You will be advising those responsible for the visual experience as it’s communicated through dressings, styling and fabrication. You have a passion for ensuring your team is set up for success when evaluating products and fulfilling requests from creative and production. You will also be mentoring, coaching, refining or rolling out new styling techniques for the Style Team and Art Department.  Additionally, you are also a skilled autonomous leader and have experience in all areas of set dressing and prop styling: shopping/sourcing, prop fabrication, basic construction, laydowns, food styling, wardrobe styling and soft goods. You have extensive experience with at-scale photography and video for a multitude of media outlets. You’ll have a strong POV on process improvement, strong technical skills and you are able to communicate this to creative partners with clarity and conviction. The ideal candidate will be collaborative, engaged, and have a passion for our industry as well as a desire to create, develop and organize a talented team of passionate creatives. You’ll work closely with the Art Department Manager as well as Production Teams, Art Directors, Photographers, Pet Teams and Videographers.  The ideal candidate will be collaborative, an enthusiastic team member who thrives off our helping others and has loves working on set with animals. 

 

You’ll have to be a diplomat and a creative problem solver working with the Production Team, Art Department Manager, Art Directors, Photographers and Videographers. These teams rely on communication and strategic resource management to produce content that attracts and engages our consumers. The ideal candidate will be collaborative, engaged, and have a passion for our industry as well as a desire to create, develop and organize a talented team of passionate creatives.

 

What you'll do:

  • Strategize with Art Department Manager and coordinate daily styling needs for on set production
  • Lead a team of stylists, being responsible for their skill improvement and career development
  • Schedule both full time and freelance Art team members for on and off set tasking
  • Communicate changes in the production schedule, creative directives or resources amongst Production and Art Department leadership, helping to identify and solve for potential capacity or bandwidth issues
  • Work closely with Producers, Art Directors and Art Department Manager to ensure maximum on set productivity with efficient flow of product and prop needs, ensures all stylists are meeting production deadlines
  • Track project statuses including art milestones and deadlines, for multiple projects across both photo and video simultaneously
  • Organize and maintain library of process and style guides for photo and video styling
  • Collaborate with the Art Department Manager on procedures and process to increase efficiency and frugality
  • Oversee model wardrobe procurement and maintenance

 

What you'll need:

  • 6+ years of styling experience with either a retail-focused photo and video studio, production company or creative agency 
  • 2+ years of experience in managing people
  • Subject matter expert in lifestyle set dressing, sourcing, product lay downs and product on figure, prop fabrication, prop styling, product packaging prep & styling, paper craft styling, food styling, wardrobe styling 
  • Ability to adhere to Chewy brand guidelines and creative standards 
  • Be immersed and knowledgeable of current trends in e-commerce styling, prop styling, furniture and decor 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, set priorities, utilize resources, identify and address problems and meet deadlines. 
  • Experience with shopping, record keeping and budgets  
  • Proficiency with software applications used in a creative studio such as Adobe Creative Suite, Office360 and Google Apps.  
  • Strong interpersonal skills; a team player, positive and innovative thinker 
  • Highly motivated and a high level of initiative; ability to work independently, in support of Marketing’s creative goals and Chewy’s business objectives 
  • Ability and desire to work in an environment with all pet types 
  • Must be able to lift 20 lbs
  • Position may require 10% travel
