We are looking for a passionate and highly self motivated individual to join our Boston-based Sustainability team. This is a global and highly cross-functional corporate role that will help advance sustainability objectives across our global business portfolio. The right candidate will be an integral part of our small Sustainability team and must be willing to dive in and tackle all sorts of responsibilities and projects related to sustainability, from storytelling to helping develop internal/external education programs, to interfacing with and supporting suppliers. This associate will play a key role in highlighting sustainable products to our customers through our Shop Sustainably program and can expect to partner with teams across Brand Management, Category Management, Legal, Marketing, Analytics & Operations, Physical Retail, and external suppliers to ensure the strategic vision is executed all the way to the customer.  

Responsibilities:

  • Support partners with rolling out product sustainability initiatives in alignment with global goals and key performance indicators.
  • Maintain documentation and project files in line with internal quality requirements.
  • Maintain and improve platform functionality including document storage and both customer and supplier experience tools.
  • Be open to engaging and representing Wayfair at networking opportunities and industry forums in order to build and maintain awareness of, and involvement in, current and emerging topics of importance (including things like wood sourcing, chemicals usage, packaging, etc.).  
  • Own strategic projects beyond direct asset work, including ability to support tasks across multiple projects in parallel, that support our broader sustainability strategy.

Qualifications:

  • A willingness and ability to learn quickly and contribute enthusiastically to our Corporate Responsibility team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to foster and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including a strong attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical skills to review data, identify where data may be inconsistent, and identify what questions to ask to dig deeper.
  • Ability to think quickly, ensure completion of projects in a timely manner, respond to changing demands, anticipate future problems, and recommend preventive courses of action.
  • Bachelor's Degree and one to two years experience with and/or understanding of sustainability principles, subject matter experience in sustainability and responsible supply chain management/procurement is strongly preferred. 
  • A broad interest in sustainability and societal challenges with an understanding of sustainability (business) issues (e.g., governance, environment, health and safety, human rights, supply chain management, and community relations).
