Appian’s People team is looking for an inspirational Talent Engagement & Communications Partner who can help us bring together our strategy and people in a compelling way.  The Talent Engagement & Communications Partner will partner closely with internal stakeholders to uncover and highlight stories, both internally and externally, of impact across the organization.  This is a great opportunity for someone with a passion for journalism and storytelling.  

In this role, you will be responsible for developing, organizing, and executing strategic internal and external communications in support of employee engagement programs and our employer brand.  As the heartbeat of the organization, you will collaborate directly with People team leaders and key stakeholders to understand the company's values and unique selling points as an employer. Your primary focus will be to connect with employees to uncover stories that showcase the incredible work being done across the organization.  This will be accomplished through clear and consistent messaging and inspirational story telling.

The ideal candidate is an experienced communications professional with sound judgment, superior attention to detail, creative mindset, strong intellect, and extensive writing skills.  In this role, you will take abstract and complex ideas transforming them into simple and powerful messages shared across social media platforms and internal communication channels.

To be successful in this role, you will:

  • Design and implement a comprehensive, global communication strategy for internal and external audiences, ensuring high-quality, accurate, and aligned messaging with organizational priorities, goals, and values.

  • Update and create compelling and authentic messaging across various channels, including social media, career website, HOME posts, employee forums, leadership messages and other relevant platforms.

  • Maintain a unified content calendar for timely and relevant message delivery, supporting both internal communication and employer branding strategies.

  • Develop all forms of communications to be disseminated across our global business, including: driving the creation and delivery of compelling written communications and presentation materials for Managers to Executive-level leaders (emails, HOME posts, slides, scripts, content for newsletters & blog posts, messaging documents, etc.)

  • Manage and own careers.appian.com updating content and handling any changes and migration necessary (Beamery, AEM, etc.)

  • Manage and enhance the company's online presence for employees and candidates, ensuring a positive portrayal on employer review sites like Glassdoor and Comparably.  Manage employer brand company awards submissions (Great Places to Work, Washington Post Top Workplaces, etc.) and coordinate campaigns tied to Glassdoor ratings, including post-promotion efforts.

  • Utilize internal tools as appropriate to maximize communication effectiveness and ensure consistent messaging, branding, imagery, and identity.

  • Provide support to complex, fast-moving, planned and unplanned change, and/or crisis management.

  • Evaluate the performance of internal communications and social channels making recommendations based on data analysis and feedback.

 

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree  

  • 5-8 years experience in communications and/or employer branding

  • Ability to easily transition from high level strategic thinking to creative and detailed execution

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and autonomously, while continuing to maintain a team player attitude and behavior

  • Ability to anticipate and mitigate potential issues that may result in negative or damaging optics and employee sentiment

  • Ability to exercise high quality judgment, particularly with narrow timeframes

  • Excellent project management skills and demonstrated ability to deliver on multiple focus areas and contexts simultaneously

  • Foster collaborative partnerships with stakeholders at various organizational levels, cultivating strong relationships to effectively convey employee narratives. Delving into details and posing insightful questions.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in corporate communications, change management, professional services, or technology industries is highly preferred

  • Demonstrated experience producing a high-quality and high-volume of written communications with limited lead time

  • Experience managing and maintaining communication tools/platforms and senior level stakeholders
