About our Financial Crime Customer Operations team:

Our Financial Crime Customer Operations team is at the heart of how we protect Monzo and our customers from economic crimes such as fraud and money laundering.  

In our Screening team we support various aspects of the customer journey such as onboarding (we call them sign-ups), ongoing monitoring, and event based review. Our Investigators conduct reviews on tasks where our customers may appear on fraud prevention or sanctions databases or where they may be classified as a politically exposed person (PEP). We conduct due diligence on our customers based on our customer risk assessment and support our financial crime risk teams by recommending or making fair and proportionate risk based decisions on their behalf. 

What you’ll be working on:We are looking for an experienced financial crime professional to join us as a Team Manager and support our growing Screening team. 

You will report to a Financial Crime Operations Manager and be responsible for a team of around 11 investigators/ senior investigators. As a Team Manager you will spend the majority of your time supporting your team to deliver accurate and efficient investigations, while also contributing to the wider success of the operation.

As well as this you will role model Monzo values, behaviours and tone of voice to create an inclusive and engaging work environment.

Your day-to-day:   
  • Analysing and driving improvement in team performance, and reporting relevant insights to your Operations Manager
  • Communicating and embedding change effectively within the team
  • Leading team meetings and one on one’s 
  • Resolving your teams escalated Screening investigations as well as identifying and fix any gaps in knowledge
  • Using data to inform decisions and specific actions for team performance
  • Collaborating with other pillars and stakeholders to form a strong control environment, minimising breaches and risk events 
You should apply if:
  • You’re a clear and inspiring communicator, with excellent written and verbal English
  • Experienced in Financial Crime including understanding risks facing fintechs and the banking sector
  • Confident that you can handle first level technical escalations from Screening Investigators 
  • Strong leadership skills including an understanding of managing absence, performance and objective setting 
  • Have the ability to motivate and coach a team in fast paced environment 
  • Organised with the ability to prioritise workload and deliver on key actions 
The Interview Process:

Our interview process involves 3 main stages: 

  • Answering the application questions below
  • A role specific / technical interview with Technical Managers/Partners
  • A Leadership and Values interview with Operations Managers
