This role in a nutshell:

You’ll be working within the Energy Solutions pre-construction team where your key focus will be to manage a team of Technical Support colleagues who are accredited as Retrofit Assessors and aspiring to become Retrofit Coordinators; your role will be split between leading the team in their daily tasks and also leading by example by ensuring compliant designs are reviewed, assessed and available to support the business in achieving its revenue forecasts. You will be responsible for the appointment and management of all professional services supply chain partners and will work collaboratively through the time bound implementation phase of a project to ensure that the goals and objectives of each client are being met, and where necessary, contingency plans are in place to overcome any unforeseen programme delays or slippage.

Your key outcomes will be:

One of your key outcomes will be to coordinate a specialist supply chain to ensure the survey and design journey is delivered in strict accordance with the PAS 2035 Framework and a pipeline of compliant designs are produced in line with our budgetary forecasts.

You will provide leadership and line management support to an in-house team of Retrofit Assessors and aspiring Coordinators. Supporting the development of all members of staff is vital to continued growth of Energy Solutions. 

Survey, data gathering and assessment reports will form the basis of a compliant retrofit design therefore you will be expected to work closely with Retrofit Designers and third-party Retrofit Coordinators to create compliant design solutions using technically applicable energy efficiency measures.

Key responsibilities include: 

  • Managing all projects from a Technical perspective during the pre-construction design through to supporting Operational delivery and final sign-off of works (from a design perspective).
  • Supplier management of third party specialist suppliers such as Architects, Chartered Surveyors, Retrofit Coordinators, Designers and Assessors, including any required Planning Application or Building Warrant (Scotland) preparation and submission
  • Creating projects Design Brief and ensuring all those involved in the design journey adhere to its directives and principles. 
  • Undertake frequent site visits in support of the Operations team and ensure all retrofit work is being carried out in accordance with approved designs, and any property specific issues have been addressed in strict accordance with PAS2035.
  • Manage an audit regime of Retrofit Coordinator outputs, including Improvement Option Evaluation (IOE) and Medium Term Plans (MTP) to ensure quality, accuracy and compliance requirements are being met.
  • Oversee suppliers TrustMark Data Warehouse lodgement and secure all associated Certification in line with agreed timelines.

Within your first 3 months month you’ll:

  • Have fully embedded with business process and outputs
  • Be comfortable explaining all OVO has to offer (including our mission and benefits)
  • Be known in your business area by key collaborators as the department lead for all things Technical 
  • Have met with all suppliers to understand capabilities, capacity, competences and provided any gap analysis on your findings

You’ll be a successful Technical Manager at OVO if you…

  • have previous experience in a similar management role and hold the Level 5 Diploma in Retrofit Coordination and Risk Management, Or  5+ years hands on experience managing Technical services. 
  • An understanding of Energy Company Obligation would be a plus but isn’t crucial
  • Are comfortable at juggling multiple things at once! Whether it’s applications, candidates, roles or collaborators - there will be a lot of variety; you’re able to keep on top of it all and are prompt in delivery.
