Toast is driven by building the restaurant platform that helps restaurants adapt, take control, and get back to what they do best: building the businesses they love.  The Transportation Strategy & Performance Manager will be a key role in the Logistics team responsible for ensuring that Toast hardware is delivered to our warehouse and customers locations within acceptable lead times and at the right cost. Additionally, this role will manage the delivery experience of hardware orders to meet our delivery promise date to customers.  Understanding the root causes of delivery failures and working with fulfillment sites and carriers to improve service levels will be a primary responsibility.

 

About this roll* (Responsibilities)

• Serve as a key interface between Toast and transportation partners to set and meet SLAs
• Own and run QBRs with all transportation vendors with appropriate SLA management 
• Refine, monitor, and improve transportation related Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), vendor scorecards, and development of business cases to support logistics changes and/or improvements
• Conduct RFPs for carrier selection as and when required to reduce costs or improve service; Ownership of selecting appropriate carriers to meet delivery expectations and ultimately managing carrier performance 
• Own the delivery promise date to customers and work with cross functional stakeholders, fulfillment centers and carriers to achieve 98+% on-time performance
• Cultivate trusted relationships with transportation partners at both the management and operational levels in order to appropriately drive desired outcomes
• Meet Toast Hardware Operations objectives which include ensuring continued end customer satisfaction, adhering to financial objectives, and achieving operational excellence, specifically in managing delivery service levels and costs
• Partner with the Global Logistics and Trade team to setup vendors, carriers, bonds, deferment accounts and local banks for global duty payment as it relates to international expansion efforts
• Partner with fulfillment sites, IT, Finance, Logistics and carriers, to ensure Transportation provides useful and valuable insights to drive cost improvements and consumer satisfaction

Do you have the right ingredients*? (Requirements)

• 5+ years of progressive experience in Logistics and/or Transportation management
• Expert level understanding of international freight and last mile delivery operations (i.e. inbound freight operations, parcel and LTL carrier operations)
• Industry experience with Transportation Management systems (TMS), Business Intelligence (BI) reporting capabilities, and ERP systems (i.e. Netsuite)
• Experience working with post-purchase customer notification and e-commerce platforms
• Strong project management and planning skills
• Senior level negotiation and relationship management skills
• Proven track record managing and reducing transportation and logistics costs
• Must demonstrate attention to detail and bring a results driven approach with ability to drive solutions across multiple cross-functional teams
• Proven ability to work effectively in a dynamic, changing environment and to adapt while focusing on key goals and objectives

The base salary range for this role is listed below. The starting salary will be determined based on skills and experience. In addition to base salary, our total rewards components include cash compensation (overtime, bonus/commissions if eligible), equity, and benefits.Pay Range$112,000—$179,000 USD
