About The Role:

We’re looking for a Working student (Werkstudent) Data Scientist who can bring their drive and experience in applied data science and optimization at industry scale to help guide our Index-wide technology strategy for machine learning and optimization.

Index’s scale spans the globe, our transactions happen 24x7 in our global data centers, and every second that passes millions of requests are evaluated across our exchange. In order to achieve our mission, global efficiency and reliability are absolutely key, as every millisecond quite literally counts in our business.

What We’re Looking For:

 An enthusiastic Data Scientist:

• Work with data scientists, ML engineers and product owners to identify areas of improvement with the current systems.
• Use analytical, statistical and database skills to understand large, complex datasets with the aim to increase the programmatic efficiency.
• Clearly articulate research and development hypothesis, decisions and results.
• Take part in the process of designing, developing & improving algorithms for automated decision making around programmatic exchange optimisation.
• Train and evaluate machine learning models.

Here's What You Need:

• An active enrolment as a student of in Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent.
• Practical experience working on a machine learning project.
• Structured and analytical approach to problem solving.
• Ability to demonstrate and articulate complex results to technological audience.
• Strong background in data science development languages (Python required, specifically pandas, numpy, SciKit; Knowledge in Spark is a plus).
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
