COPYWRITING AT PURPOSE

Purpose is looking for Copywriters at all levels to join our Global Freelance Copywriter Roster. We take on some of the most challenging issues in partnership with private and public sector clients across the world. We have teams located in New York, London, Sydney, Nairobi, Sao Paulo & New Delhi. 

We love building long-term relationships with talented freelancers, and want to proactively meet writers to learn what makes you unique before we’re in the process of staffing for project work. We’ll be reviewing applications on a weekly basis and reaching out directly for introductory meetings, and then reaching out when the need arises.

As a Copywriter at Purpose, you will balance big-idea thinking with solid self management and impeccable creative execution. You will collaborate with talented designers, strategists, and campaigners, working on projects for positive, lasting change. You will be a champion of words, crafting language in support of our campaign efforts, and giving powerful and appropriate voice to ideas. Your ability to translate complex, strategic concepts into approachable narratives will open doors on big issues, helping people to understand a given issue and know exactly how to take action. 

HOW WE WORK

  • Our creatives work collaboratively with the strategy, campaigns, and impact measurement teams. This means our writers need to balance collaboration and input from others to make the work even stronger.
  • Our timelines are best suited to those familiar with agency-style deadlines. We work hard and get a lot done during office hours, but try not to stay late or work overtime.
  • All of our creative is rooted in strategy, even if the assignment is straight-forward on its face. Conceptual thinkers welcome! 
  • We want you to bring your point of view! We’re not afraid of pitching bold designs, and we don’t have a singular “style”.
  • We value autonomy. While we are collaborative, our writers ‘own’ their work and are responsible for seeing their deliverables through while developing their own plans to meet deadlines.
  • The creative team sets the concept and narrative vision for brands and campaigns, providing direction and copy that incites participation and engagement. Work will include naming & branding, voice and tone guidelines, sample brand messaging, tagline development, narrative development & issue framing, campaign concepting & execution, and copy for video (treatments and scripts), digital (websites, social posts, emails), and print assets
