We handle the core accounting responsibilities at Luno and as a member of this fast-paced, growing team, you know your accounting principles applied in business from back to front, you are deadline-driven,  you have a problem-solving and value-adding mindset.

The role in a nutshell:

In this role, you will contribute to the Reporting and Control team’s strategy within the Luno Group.

Accounting responsibilities:

• Full financial accounting responsibility for assigned legal entities.
• Reviewing the reconciliations of the corporate bank accounts and credit cards prepared by the Finance Associates.
• Reviewing the key internal control reconciliation of the customer fund bank accounts (i.e. assets under management)
• Preparing, maintaining and reconciling general ledger accounts (eg Revenue checks)
• Monthly balance sheet reconciliations (eg Accruals / Prepayments)
• Reviewing, posting and releasing payment of supplier invoices and employee expenses prepared by the finance associate
• Monthly supplier reconciliations review
• Comfortable working with complex intercompany accounting

Treasury

• Review the process of funding of the legal entities’ corporate accounts .
• Contribute to the weekly cash flow forecasting process.

Internal control

• Preparing key internal control reconciliations of our digital assets to the blockchain

Monthly Reporting:

• Prepare monthly trial balances for internal reporting 
• Analyse the Actual versus Budget reporting for your allocated departments
• Ensure Balance sheet reconciliations are up to date and agree to Trial Balance
• Ensure deadlines are met for the group-wide assigned monthly flash and management accounts tasks

Administration and Project Management:

• Ad hoc project work i.e. assisting with building systems, improving process efficiencies, creating automation and implementing internal controls.
• Assisting the tax team with indirect tax (VAT) queries and implementing the transfer pricing policy. 

Audit Management:

• Project manage the year-end audits for your entities. 
• Maintaining a complete audit trail of all source documentation used to support the financial reporting.
• Source the supporting documents for audits

A little about you:

• An accounting degree with at least 2 years post qualification outside of audit
• Must be at an advanced level Excel / Google Sheets.
• System experience with relevant ERP systems.
• Ability to work remotely.
• Candidates must have reliable internet connection and a conducive work from home set-up
• Experience working in a fast moving and ever-evolving environment
• Experience with cryptocurrencies, digital assets or financial assets (desirable)
• Special tools / system experience Sage X3 and / or Tipalti (desirable)
