Position Overview:

This dynamic position will work closely with members of the global responsible investing team to drive strategic initiatives and projects that further ESG integration across StepStone’s platform and a range of corporate sustainability projects. It is an excellent opportunity for an individual looking to grow their responsible investing acumen in a growing Private Markets ecosystem. 

The successful candidate for this varied role will have excellent project management, quantitative, qualitative, and interpersonal skill as well as two to five years of sustainability, project management, data, private markets, consulting, or other relevant experience, and a demonstrated interest in ESG. They will also demonstrate maturity, reliability and strong attention to detail.

 Essential Job Functions: 

  • Work closely with members of the Responsible Investment team to develop and implement various programs to support the Firm’s ESG initiatives.
  • These initiatives may include:
    • Enhancement of our ESG data collection, visualization, and reporting
    • Ensuring quality of ESG data in client reporting
    • Assisting with firm-level GHG emission measurement and reporting
    • Collaborating on firm-level reporting and disclosure such as PRI or UK Stewardship Code
    • Supporting colleagues with investment process-related integration projects.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Comprehensive understanding of ESG issues, data, frameworks, trends, and regulations. E.g., climate risk and GHG accounting, diversity, human rights, PRI, TCFD, EDCI, SASB, SDGs, SFDR, etc.)Excellent project management, presentation and writing skills
  • Demonstrable interest and knowledge of private markets and the nuances of how ESG is integrated into these asset classes
  • Strong organizational and project management skills and the ability to multi-task and manage time across multiple projects/deadlines in a detail-oriented environment
  • Excellent analytical skills, including comfort working with large data sets. Familiarity with database management systems, including PowerBI, is viewed as a positive
  • High proficiency in Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal, written and communication skills. Ability to synthesize reports/data and generate Word and or PowerPoint presentations to a high standard

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required with a focus on a topic related to finance or sustainability preferred; CFA ESG qualification a plus
  • At least two years of relevant experience in ESG or corporate sustainability is required, with 3-5 years preferred
  • Highly motivated self-starter with a demonstrated history of taking initiative
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a small global team
  • Strong networking skills and cultural awareness to cultivate relationships with stakeholders across levels and functional groups in a large global business
  • Flexibility in working hours to accommodate multiple time zones

Salary Range

95,000 - 125,000

The salary range is an estimate of pay for this position.  Actual pay may vary depending on job-related factors that can include location, education, skill, and experience.  The salary range does not include any benefits or other forms of possible compensation that may be available to employees.
