The Community You Will Join: 

The Senior Communications Manager, Policy Comms is part of the Airbnb Communications team, a genuinely cross-functional group that acts as the connective tissue between the global team and in- region teams and is responsible for telling Airbnb’s policy story around the world. Whether it's speaking to media, hosts and guests, industry commentators, thought leaders or the wider community, the Communications team is the voice of Airbnb. 

The Policy Communications team is part of the Global Corporate and Policy Communications team at Airbnb. The team is responsible for defending and promoting the company from a policy, business and financial, trust and safety, crisis and executive standpoint. We proactively drive positive news about our business and maintain and shape a corporate narrative that aligns with the company’s initiatives, such as our bi-annual product launches.

The Difference You Will Make:

Airbnb is seeking a Senior Communications Manager to support the Policy Communications team. In this role, you will be integrated into a company where the communications team is highly present in all external company activities and where you will contribute to challenging and fulfilling projects. The role is responsible for helping to deliver Airbnb’s policy communications strategy, including managing a regular press office drumbeat of stories and news on Airbnb, and activating regional and global campaigns on policy matters.

A Typical Day: 

  • Act as a daily main point of contact on policy related matters, including managing reactive press requests and utilizing all relevant tools and teams available (policy and campaigns, data, industry research, host and guest stories, etc.) to support Airbnb’s community and brand
  • Creating written materials, including reactive messaging, press releases, story pitches, messaging briefs, talking points, Q&As, letters, reports, presentations etc.
  • Provide guidance and support to key internal stakeholders, including our Public Policy, Legal, Trust, Product, and Community Policy teams, on policy commuications matters
  • Help prepare Airbnb spokespeople for public speaking engagements, media interviews, etc
  • Identify and execute proactive press opportunities and drive national/global announcements, in support of corporate and consumer communications goals

Your Expertise:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 10-12+ years PR/Public Affairs experience working in an agency, in-house communications or a government communications role; preference to those with tech/government experience 
  • On-the-record experience with media
  • Proven track-record working on proactive and reactive communications initiatives involving policy and regulatory matters
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multi-functional leads in a matrix organization, and experience advising and working with cross-functional leads and stakeholders on sensitive, complex and high-profile matters
  • Experience managing and working on projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong decision-making, organizational and problem-solving skills, calm under pressure, with attention to detail and follow through to get things done
  • Exceptional verbal communications and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent writing skills with samples to share

This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed to with your manager. How We'll Take Care of You:

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.  

Pay Range$155,000—$200,500 USD
