VP Investor Relations & Corporate Development

 

About the team

As leader of this team, you will be responsible for helping to shape the company’s strategic direction by evaluating and pursuing external growth opportunities, and developing and communicating our equity story to the investor and analyst community. Reporting to the CFO and working very closely with Founder/CEO, this is a unique and diverse role for someone looking to build on their existing strategic finance experience in a dynamic industry. You will be someone who enjoys the fast pace and challenge of working for a high-profile international business and will be delivery-focussed.

How you will make an impact in the role:

Investor Relations

Engage with the investment community

  • Become a trusted point of contact for investors and equity analysts.
  • Respond quickly and accurately to requests for information from the buy-side and sell-side, taking into account potential disclosure issues.
  • Understand Deliveroo’s shareholder register and work with corporate brokers on investor targeting and planning annual engagement schedule to meet with existing and potential new shareholders
  • Lead/attend investor meetings, capturing key discussion points/feedback and recording them into the CRM systems. Ensure follow ups are dealt with in a timely manner.

Provide analysis and insights

  • Lead collection of analyst consensus, review models from equity analysts and provide feedback based on publicly available information, and ensure published consensus is accurate and up-to-date.
  • Oversee “end of day wraps” for the CEO/CFO/Board after significant announcements, share price movements, or publication of analyst research.
  • Analyse competitor results and draw out relevant themes and learnings for the Executive Team and Board, working with colleagues in Corporate Finance, Strategy, and other teams as relevant.

Prepare impactful results releases and other corporate materials

  • Shape the development of Deliveroo’s equity story, including purpose, strategy, financial performance and ESG commitments & reporting; ensure this messaging is consistently applied through all corporate materials, including the corporate website.
  • Lead on drafting of materials for results and trading updates (press releases, presentations, scripts, and Q&A), working with internal stakeholders and external advisors to refine and develop the messaging and narrative.
  • Contribute to the production of the Annual Report, working closely with all internal stakeholders and external advisors.

Contribute to broader team success

  • Monitor the development of IR best practice and tools, and drive their implementation where appropriate.
  • Build relationships throughout Deliveroo, collaborating across functions and sharing relevant IR insights with the broader finance and business communities.

Corporate Development

Explore and execute external growth opportunities

  • Shape M&A strategy, including proactively identifying external growth opportunities and evaluating incoming opportunities
  • Maintain external adviser network to ensure Deliveroo is plugged into relevant strategic developments across our industry and in order to source possible opportunities
  • Lead execution of any potential transactions, working with advisers and relevant internal stakeholders
  • Provide expertise to local market teams to assist with the structuring and execution of commercial partnerships

Monitor valuation

  • Monitor evolution of valuations for Deliveroo, the peer group and wider market context and provide regular feedback to Board of Directors and Executive Team
  • Provide insight and analysis of the drivers of current and potential future evolution of valuation for the company and the sector
  • Maintain up-to-date view of fair value for Deliveroo using a range of valuation methodologies

 

A key part of team setting strategic direction 

  • Work with Executive team and Board of Directors to help shape Deliveroo’s strategy in the fast-moving food delivery industry
  • Monitor and evaluate strategic developments across the industry peer group and beyond, working with local market teams to produce analysis and reviews for Board of Directors and Executive team

What you will bring to the role:

You will have worked in a global, complex, fast-paced environment, be able to understand the key financial drivers of a business, and will have had exposure to a broad range of business challenges. You will have:

  • Relevant professional experience, with an interest in technology and innovation and consumer industries 
  • Deep understanding of capital markets, with experience gained from sell-side, buy-side, corporate broking or investment banking 
  • Direct experience preferred in at least one of the following areas: investor relations (preferably in a UK-listed company), corporate development/M&A 
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills, with strong foundations in finance and accounting – CFA or ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualification preferred
  • A talent for written communication, the ability to create impactful data visualisations, and keen attention to detail
  • Great interpersonal skills with self-confidence to communicate effectively with investors, analysts and the senior management team in the company
  • Good project management capabilities, with ability to prioritise workload whilst managing business and finance stakeholder expectations in a fast-paced environment
  • A commitment to continuous professional education and development of best practice
  • Flexibility to travel for meetings within the UK and overseas.
