  • The mission of the Airbnb Global Safety and Security (GSS) team is to foster a safe, secure, and healthy workplace for our employee community and peace of mind for Airbnb’s global community.   • The Senior Executive Protection Program Manager will lead Airbnb’s executive protection by developing long-term strategies, goals and objectives that maintain effective protection policies and operations in the management and mitigation of risks directed towards Airbnb executives.  This will be a senior role within the GSS team and report directly to the Director, Global Safety & Security.

The Difference You Will Make:

  • Lead Airbnb’s executive protection program to improve the effectiveness of operations, policies, playbooks, processes and technologies to ensure the safety and security of Airbnb’s most senior executives
  • Develop and execute appropriate risk mitigation plans based upon executive threat assessments which are tailored to individual needs
  • Effectively manage service providers, ensuring an effective risk based program that operates within a developed set of standard operating procedures.
  • Establish and maintain trust based relationships with executives and their administrative business partners

A Typical Day: 

  • Coordinate with Airbnb’s Global Security Operations Center (GSOC) and Global Security Intelligence Center (GSIC) for executive protection and event asset monitoring, geo-fence recommendations and incident notifications to the executive protective details
  • Collaborate with other GSS teams for executive protection travel assessments, regional risk concerns, persons of interest investigations, behavioral threat assessments and threat response management
  • Coordinate logistics for executive business and personal travel in partnership with executives, their administrative business partners, executive protection service providers and Airbnb’s Global Travel Risk Management team
  • Plan and coordinate executive security needs for internal and external events in partnership with the Special Events Security program manager
  • Lead security planning efforts for Board of Directors and Shareholder meetings in partnership with other GSS program managers.
  • Review, recommend and procure equipment and technology deemed necessary to enhance the personal security of executives 
  • Develop Return on Security Investment metrics and reporting to manage progress against strategic goals and to evaluate the effectiveness of the executive protection program, using data to drive improvement plans and track progress against strategic goals and initiatives.
  • Maintain professional relationships with government agencies, law enforcement and peers across the security industry
  • Responsible for planning, staffing, budgeting, and managing expense priorities for Airbnb’s executive protection program 

Your Expertise:

  • 15+ years experience managing protective services for high net worth and/or high risk business or government executives, ideally 3+ years experience in technology companies with a global role
  • Experience developing and maintaining an Executive Protective Services program for a company of similar size or larger
  • Extensive knowledge of laws and regulations governing security operations globally
  • Possess knowledge in the areas of emergency/disaster management, physical security, residential security, operation/logistical planning, critical incident management, risk management and business resiliency.
  • Experience with security technologies, including video surveillance, access control, incident management systems and security operations center experience as well as organizing logistics and support of domestic and international travel.
  • A highly developed network of resources, cultivated through years of building relationships in the security industry, government and the tech community to ensure your effectiveness in a wide region with complex geopolitical, cultural and business environments.
  • Sound judgment & ability to work independently with minimal supervisory oversight
  • Strong leadership and vendor management skills with demonstrated expertise managing subordinates, vendors, and subcontractors providing executive protection support
  • Experience with Board and shareholder meeting security protocols.  An executive presence with outstanding communication skills including written, verbal and presentation skills with the ability to create executive communications and presentations.
  • Experience navigating complex / matrixed business organizations and influencing across cross-functional teams 
  • A proven track record of working collaboratively with subject matter experts on cross-functional teams, balancing disparate priorities, and rapid problem solving in high-stress situations.
  • Experienced manager effective at building trust through relationships and empowering a high-performing team.
  • An acute sense of discretion and ability to manage highly confidential information
  • Willingness to travel frequently

Due to the nature of this position, the successful applicant will need to be based in San Francisco Bay Area to be able to conduct their work. Currently, employees can not be located in: Alaska, Indiana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, Wisconsin, Alabama, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Delaware And Rhode Island. How We'll Take Care of You:

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.  

Pay Range$185,000—$230,000 USD
